Aircon Going Hot Every Now And Then

Featured Replies

Hi,

We just replaced the Aircon compressor in our 2003 CRV in the dealership for just over 20K.

We took it in there first because the aircon would be nice and cold then suddenly blow out hot air.

After they replaced the Aircon compressor its much better, but it has gone hot on my twice in a week on my drive down from bangkok to Surat Thani and back, only for a split second but its really giving me the sheets.

I took it back to Honda and they said it could be something else thats wrong and put some green liquid or something in and bring it back next week so they can have a look. (my Thai isnt that great and I think this is what he was saying) huh.png

Anyone know what this could be?

Also replacing a windscreen for 4,000 baht (rock off a truck on the way back to Bangkok put a nice crack in it)

Also replacing the left rear window motor for 2,000 baht

Fair prices?

Could be that one of your AC valves has clogged up. If it is the high pressure side valve, it might tell the compressor to disengage. What speed where you driving?

Get the system cleaned out. Could also be the belt driving your compressor is slipping.

I don't think they put liquid in your AC system. It is most likely R134 gas.

I think the price is ok, for a honda dealer. I got mine done in my civic 2.0, so its the same compressor as yours. I didn't do it at honda, but it cost 15K all up with fitting. I did it there the first time, and it packed up in two years. I was a bit pissed. I hope your genuine compressor lasts longer!!

I'm not sure of the problem you are having, but you will be covered by warranty for 6 months I think. So I hope they can find the problem. If the compressor is bad then they should replace it with another. It sounds like the compressor isn't kicking in. I'm assuming they also replaced the 'clutch' component when they did the compressor. I don't know the proper name for it. That's the bit that kicks in the compressor.

The liquid they put in ,is in fact a dye to see if you have anyleaks as this will be easy to see if and where you have any leaks .

Also is the air-con cutting out when the motor is overheating or going over halfway on your temperature guage , iv'e had this problem before when it overheats it shuts the air-con down till the temp decreases , and ended up replacing the radiator and various internal parts in the motor total cost 15000 baht by Isuzu dealership in Khon Kaen on my 2006 Dmax cheap by western prices , all good now

Usually A/C leaks are detected by an electronic ''sniffer'' gadget that smells a leak, a miniscule leak will shut down the system.

The aircon does not turn off, the air just blows hot air for like 2 seconds then blows cold. Its doesnt happen often. But if im gonna sell it I want to make sure its fixed properly.

Yeah I think he said he put some dye in it to see if there is any problems. But not sure I understood him properly

Sounds like the TX Valve is sticking , should of flushed system & replace TX Valve , & Reciever Drier filter when changing out Compressor . Correct the Green stuff is Dye , will show up any leaks under UltraVoilet light .
