Thailand Takes Online Shopping Crown In Asia Pacific Region

Now this might surprise you but......

"MasterCard’s Worldwide Online Shopping survey revealed that 80 per cent of people in Thailand and China shop online – more than any in the rest of Asia Pacific.

However, Thai shoppers edged ahead when mobile is included, with 59 per cent shopping online compared to second placed China with just 37 per cent."

I must admit though I think I spotted a possible flaw in the survey....smile.png

One factor could be that rather than measure total sales in said markets, MasterCard takes the less scientifically accurate approach of interviewing consumers and asking them if they shop online or are likely to do so in the future.

well there we go !!!, impossible to shop online in Thailand for most people, as you dont get a personal card with your name, just some hip card thing !

They don't have the right card and they're scared of online shopping, with good reason because most Thai people are using computers infected with trojans and viruses. Probably less than 10% have ever actually bought something online.

From the people I know most don't have a credit-card and don't know what to do with the computer so 80 % is for sure wrong.

All the Thai I know shop online. but I am sure that they are among the 10 % richest in Thailand, so I guess that 90 % of Thai never bought online...

jup, right. I know a lot who even don't buy the airline ticket online. They just send someone to buy it.
