Tourst Visa ?

Featured Replies

I am a UK citizen planning to go to Thailand in May for 10 days, maybe 2 weeks. My UK passport has less than 6 months on it and expires in October. Is this a problem or can I still travel ?

Yes, get a new passport.

It should be no problem.

As long as your Passport is valid for the length of your stay.

As said it is not a problem for Thailand but if you need to travel elsewhere you need to check as most countries will require six month validity.

Whenever I have gone to the US embassy in Bangkok the person sitting in the chair next me is always there to get an emergency temporary passport because they were refused to allow to board the plane to Cambodia that morning because their passport has less than six months left until expiration.

Get a new passport now, save yourself some concern.

No need for a new Passport as Thailand only requires the Passport to be valid for the duration of the stay.

your original question was quoted tourist visa , but because your only going on holiday for 2 weeks with a return flight home ? you don't need a visa for thailand,

you get what's called a visa exempt 30 days entry and as long as your flight carrier lets you check in you should be fine.

you don't need to wait for your passport to completely expire to renew it , you get the remaining time added onto your next 10 year passport - upto 9 months can be transferred .

Yeah, you don't need a tourist visa, just a 30 day visa exempt stamp as explained above. But if you did need a Tourist visa, the general visa application says your passport "must be valid for 6 months."
