Why there are many Japanese in Thailand, especially in Bangkok ?

I went to one Thai language school in Sukhumvit and about 50% of the students are from Japan

What do they do here ?

Seeing as you observed them at a Thai language school, I am going to go out on a limb and say they are here learning Thai ?

One could also ask a similar question...Why are there so many old age pensioners in places like Pattaya ?. I went to a beer bar and about 50% of the partons were OAP's groping young Thai ladies.

Attending a language school? rolleyes.gif What are you doing here?

Maybe because of: Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitshubishi, Mazda, Isuzu, Hino, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Hitachi, Panasonic, Daikin, Sajo Denki, and many more produce in Thailand?

For your second question, they learn Thai.

know a jap guy who funds his stay by working at a call centre in BKK and spends his day cold calling people in Japan

And spends his nights with you ? LOL

Sadly, the Japanese visitors to Phuket tend to be either young couples of a gaggle of ugly salarymen given to very non stereotypical Japanese public behaviour.

Oh to be able to catch the eye of a japanese maiden *sigh*.

True story at BKK Concourse A on a shuttle flight to HKT, there were about 10 exuberant 30 year+ japanese males being "boisterous" in a Luton Lout kind of way, taking shots of whiskey and screaming and dribbling the booze all over the floor much to the consternation of all the other PAX.

I was quite shocked. So much for the assumption of quiet well behaved visitors.......

And sadly, no single Japanese ladies in need of my warm embrace. This is all Jerry Lewis' fault. Ever since I saw Geisha Boy on the telly as a kid, I had these wild dreams.

You beat me to it.

Exactly the same thing farangs are doing here.

Working. Studying. Retiring. Hanging out. Ripping off their fellow countrymen. Bitching and moaning about Thailand and Thais. Getting taken to the cleaners by bg's. Indulging vices and becoming bitter alcoholics.

Same-same.

Try Sri Racha also known as little Japan if you think there's lots of Japanese in Bangkok. They're mostly here working on the Eastern Seaboard.

I have seen a lot ugly rude Japanese, don't know how they could pull that PR Trick that all the world believe they are nice and friendly.

U sure they were all Japanese? I'm mistaken for one all the time in LoS and i ain't one.

Also I believe Japan is the #1 foreign investor in Thailand.
