I don't get to Sukhumvit Soi 4 very often so iwas wondering if the incident I witnessed is becoming more commonplace (it certainly was in Kenya when I was there in 1990-91) on Sukhumvit.

Late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, I has a having a beer at one of the sidewalk bars when a mob of Africans zipped by chasing another African man. Like many mobs, this one was extremely agitated; 10-15 men and women, howling and hurling bottles at their victim as he fled (unsuccessfully) for his life. The mob did considerable damage in their pursuit and the street vendors were clearly much irked. The victim fled toward the entrance to Nana Plaza but obviously didn't get far. The mob dispersed and a few minutes later the police and an ambulance arrived to cart off the corpse.

Given the activities of the Africans in that area- I hate to resort to pejorative stereotyping but all Africans in Bangkok are criminals- I assume it was a drug deal gone bad or the fellow did not dole out equal shares after collecting on a scam.

So is that a rae occurence or a fairly regular past-time for the Africans in Bangkok? As I mentioned, that sort of mob killing was rather common in Nairobi twenty years ago, wondering if it is genetic predisposition.
