I have a 1957 AJS 600 twin, that I recently bought in Sukothai, its been in a workshop nr the Lake in Samui for last 6 months. I need to find an alternative repair shop, it was working when i bought it. The best I heard was to take it over to Phuket? Anyone on Samui?

thanks

There is a big bike repair shop in Hua Thanon, coming from Lamai, just before the 90degree bend on your right. They were recommended to my by an Expat motorbike mechanic. Pretty cheap too as I am lead to believe. Usually had a couple of choppers parked outside, which is handy as there is no sign outside the shop.

There's a shop just after Honda heading towards Nathon, it has a big Castrol sign on the building. I bought my phantom off a guy who used to always take it there, says he's a good guy, fair and has good mechanics. Often see them working on those BSA lightening replicas. Personally I haven't had to use him yet, but the guy i bought the bike from had it for 5 years and always used him.

They are probably having problems with parts......., but to much face to admit it. get a list of what they need and source them yourself. PM if you need some contacts. Give them the parts tell them EXACTLY what you want and the process will be completed quicker than you can imagine.

If the bike is what I think it is, parts is the issue.

Albert Jack Stevens Motorbikes stopped production in 1966 following an amalgamation of them, Norton and Matchless. Parts are like rocking horse dung. Don't make the mistake of bastardizing parts, as you will destroy the value.

Pristine they change hands for upwards of $10,000USD.

You have a real piece of heritage there, if it is to big a project let me know. If it is a model 30, it is a gem, you can tell if the tank was originally chrome , if it was painted it would be a model 20 which is 498cc and not such a gem.
