Where Is The Better Buying Price For 14K Gold--Chinatwn Or Goldtomoney?

I have some 14k gold jewelry to sell, and was told by the Gold To Money people (Bangkok and Phuket) that they are paying 470 baht per gram (almost 50% market as of today).

Do the dealers in Chinatown offer better prices? I'm far from there and don't know.

Please let me know anything you might want to share.

Even pawn shops should do better than that.

However not all gold is valued the same here. If you selected the shop well where you bought it in the first place, that's the best place to sell it, usually a pretty small percentage between the buy and sell price.

I personally wouldn't buy anywhere but at one of the most famous on Yaowarat. There are others as well, but Hua Seng Heng is where I've bought all my teelacs' and for the mum in law as well, getting time for me to front up another baht when I can afford it now that I think of it.

I believe with HSH their buy rate is a flat B100 or 200 below their sell, but of course that's only for their own pieces, how deeply they devalue yours will depend on the maker's reputation.

You would be insane to sell your gold at less than 50% of the market price, gold is gold,

regardless of what its current form looks like, its very soft, easily melted down so you should get market value , buying rate will differ a bit from selling rate in gold shops but not by 50-60%

Either they think your desperate to sell it or you don't know what its worth

It's not Thai gold, and no--I don't know what its worth beyond the current sell price, times .58 for the karat weight of 14k, and then a mark down for the shop that melts it down for profit. I am out of my depth, and so asked for help. Thanks for the advice.
