Reality show for Thai PM

From correspondents in Bangkok

December 28, 2005

THAI Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra hopes to boost sluggish public support for his government by appearing in his own round-the-clock reality TV show next month.

Thailand's biggest cable operator UBC will follow him and air live footage of him 24 hours a day from January 16 to 21 as he visits the northeastern province of Roi Et, the prime minister's office said today.

It would be the first time Mr Thaksin had appeared on a reality TV show, it said.

There are about five reality shows on Thai television but they are mostly popular among teenagers and young women.

The move came as the Government was struggling to boost public support with the latest poll showing public confidence in Mr Thaksin and his administration falling to the lowest level in eight months.

UBC- doesn't his wife or gardner own it?? :o

UBC- doesn't his wife or gardner own it?? :D

My understanding is that he owns ITV.

Given that he has undertaken not to do any media interviews until the end of the year becuase the planets were not in the correct alignment perhaps he feels like he needs some more exposure. :o

Tune in and watch the number of freebies increase dramatically, don't expect a warts an all insight. This is a big PR exercise, and Mr T is very good at that.

"live footage of him 24 hours a day from January 16 to 21"

What a stupid statement.

You mean we can watch him sleep, go to the toilet, listen to him fart .

I bet there will be a lot discussed in cabinet meetings during this peiod. :o
