Some people just don't get it.

Sale fares are NOT on every seat on every flight. There may only be five, six or ten fares, maybe more, we don't know, at the sale price.

There is no point doing vague searches for destinations you do not want to go to and then growling on TV Forum.

If you are serious about travelling you have to get in early at the start of a sale and persevere, be flexible with your dates and success will follow. Always worked for me.

Several hours later now since my last post, just booked 4 (yes four) return tickets Bangkok / Singapore for a total cost of A$534, (around THB16000)

That includes seat selection and 20K luggage each.

So not "Lying Buggers" at my address.

Took AA many times and was ok. Have to be careful about buying baggage allowance.

Last time RT BKK KUL AA was about 200usd. Checkin was about 5 kg over the limit so the considerate ground crew suggested I just stuff it into my carry on bag, which I did. Boarding area did not open until the time of boarding due to broken toilet. Guess they did not want passengers to leave and return bo toilet. They singled me out to weaig carron on, first time ever with AA. Carry on was 15 kg and it now needed to be checked as baggage. Charge = 200 usd. They refused to deduct 7 kg carry on allowance. There was virtually no time left as plane was waiting for me as final boarder. No time to sort through bag.

200 usd carry on bag did not arrive with me in BKK. I had to wait hours for it. My house keys were in that bag so could not go home. AA had little concern, they already got a fat prize for that bag.

FYI; AA ground crew earn a commission on overweight charges.

Just booked rt BKK KUL on Egyptair. 17 dollars more and I don't feel like a cockroach. Even a cocroach can eat its own food, whereas AA prohibits passengers to eat their own food onboard as a way to squeeze you to buy their food.

Airegypt 2 checkin bags up to 23 kg each and a carryon of 7 or 8 kg. I done need to feel like a criminal eating potato chips on the flight. I can go shopping in KL and not worry much about paying AA extortion fees.

I chose a normal hotel not Tune hotel where they nickel and dime you to death (not nickels and dimes either)

I can't see squat out of Phuket as far as good deals, not that I looked too hard, but I still checked a few destinations and dates.

I booked a direct flight from Phuket to HK a little over 2 months in advance. Your right. No great deals. However, after checking multiple dates, airlines, direct versus Bangkok, or mixing and matching airlines. AA came in a few thousand Baht cheaper (family of 4) than anyone else. So, I'm pretty happy with them. Also the best deal for a visa run if you plan ahead.

One question for anyone: I picked our seats which cost a little more, because we are traveling with small children. Was that necessary, or would AA recognize this and stick us together, or at least one adult with both or one kid? It's the kids first flight and I wanted us together anyway, but would like to know for next time.
