[Myanmar] Rare Burmese Monkey Discovered In China

Featured Replies

A rare species of snub-nosed monkey first discovered two years ago in Burma and previously thought to live only in the Southeast Asian country has been found to exist in parts of China as well, according to Mongabay.com. Chinese scientists said that a group of 50-100 of the monkeys had been located in Yunnan Province’s Gaoligong Mountain Natural Reserve, near the Burmese border. The scientists were able to photograph and even videotape the species, but it was DNA tests on scat and fur samples that established the monkeys in China belonged to the same species as those in Burma.
