someone at the office asked me to recomend a TRUSTWORTHY maid and i actually

didnt know where to start (afriad to recommend a philipino or burmese girl because if she runs off with

laptops ,iphones and whatnot i dont want to be the one that sugested her

all she has to do is speak a bit of english and work 1-2 hour days and translate phone calls and emails in thai to english

and other general maid type stuff like cleaning and shiopping

I told him a maid will not cost a lot ,but a bi-lingual secretary with computer skills will cost a lot more and maybe its better to use

2 persons for this job since the maid wil have difficulty doing secreterial work and the secretary may think its beneath her to do

laundry or cleaning and fetching stuff from the market

is there any good agencies that provide these kind of people ?

very difficult to find a burmese/philipino who has skills enough in both english and thai to do the work.

A competent thai PA and a maid are the way forward.

Either way, for 10-12 hours a week, you aint gonna find much.

i could use a few staff also for this type of work but havent a clue how to find them ........

reluctant to leave the keys of the apartment/office with someone who gets paid almost nothing (by farang standards )

i have a lot of paperwork from work and a lot of computer systems with sensitive clients data on them (from my work ) ,if i had a cleaner

i dont know if i could leave them unattended with a set of keys because i would be in worlds of trouble if i lost the lot

also ,no guarantees they wont make a copy as soon as she gets them so if you ever ask for your keys back they may already have taken a copy or sold copies to someone else ..........

not to mention ,i wouldnt like to have to worry about credit cards, bank books ,jewellery ,documents and everything else of value i left in the custody of a (relatively )low paid staff who doesnt even speak my language

We had a secretary once who didn't mind also doing maid stuff.. UNTIL an ex-bargirl neighbor started talking down to her as if she just fell off a mountain; that was the beginning of the end of it. It's very hard to mix those skill-sets long term.

i was thinking that a bi or even tri -lingual personal assistant with computer skills is not going to appreciate doing laundry and cleaning up beer cans and putting pizza boxes in the garbage as well :D

might be a funny situation though ......

Could you not ask your Thai friends?! Or maybe even put a post up at the university? There are probably quite a few university students looking for a bit of extra part-time work like this. :)

Almost every part of thailand ,an unedecucated maid will clean an entire apartment with a toothbrush for 200- 500 thb (once a week or whenever )

a bi -lingual secretary or PA whos going to be running a business ,answering phones ,emails ,managing documents and doing important

stuff will be harder to find ,will obviously need a much higher salary and may not be impressed if she has to clean the toilets and mop the floors as well

our office has separate persons for EVERYTHING :)

security does basically nothing as usual

office girls do office stuff (answer phones / play on facebook )

cleaners clean (the hardest working people in the entire place)

runners run out and pick up stuff or collect it on motorbikes and smoke cigaretttes and drink M150

drivers drive and sit in their cars waiting ( for senior level persons and VIPS )

thailand seems to have a person for everything ,overstaff is the answer ,to hell with flexibility , multitasking and efficiency

your business is a big as it has employees ,the more ,the better !

I know a lady who does it. She has a BS from the Philippines and speaks Thai and fluent English. She makes 20,000 per month and her employer provides housing and work permit. He lists her as an English specialist at his company but in reality she is a maid, nanny and companion for his Korean wife. Nice lady well spoken and endowed. She has a sister too. Sister a bit on the chubby side. Her sister makes about 20 too as an English tutor. Sister also has a degree in nursing.

Advertising at universities is a good idea. I would suggest that you start in Ramkhamhaeng University which statistically probably has a greater proportion of down to earth country gals trying to get ahead the hard way. Just about all of the apartment receptionists, 7-11 cashiers, waitresses etc who I've had a conversation with were stuying at 'Ram.

Absolutely confirm the separation concept, very very difficult and problematic to ask Thais to be flexible in their roles and responsibilities, face/status level stuff gets in the way.

Cleaning is no problem and dirt cheap, just talk to Thai friends and neighbors, you'll pay a bit more than a Thai but it's not much, say 200 per session for a few hours would be more than fair, especially if you can be flexible on the hours so she can make it a second job.

The other part will be **very** difficult to find, you'll most likely have to go through a few before you find a keeper.

Thais are very unused to working by the hour, better IMO to quote a per-month salary even if it's part-time, specify many more hours over a wider range than what you need and you'll be lucky to get the lower amount in effective work anyway.

Fair starting pay in say Chiang Mai would be say B6-8K per month for half-time, here maybe B7-10K.

And none of your legitimate staff or even acquaintances IMO should be exposed to your p2p recreational activities, you're really shooting yourself in the foot there.
