[Myanmar] Indians Officials Seize Burma-Bound Drugs

Customs officials in the Indian city of Guwahati seized a huge cache of pseudoephedrine tablets bound for Burma on Friday. The consignment, intercepted at the city’s airport, contained 14,74,000 tablets that were reportedly en route to Burma via Imphal in India’s Manipur State. According to the Times of India, the discovery indicates that Indian drug smugglers have found a new market for illegal pharmaceuticals in Burma. The tablets are crushed in border areas and shipped across as a powder used to make “party drugs like amphetamine-type stimulant,†said a source in Manipur.
