Manchester Airport (Uk) Will Run Out Of A1 Jet Fuel In Hours

Just heard on Radio 5 Live ( BBC ) There is a problem with the Stanlow Refinery in Cheshire, they are unable to supply the Airport. The Airport uses 3million litres a day, it would take 79 tankers a day to keep up with demand and they cannot do it, appears to be a problem with amount of road tankers and the Refinery. Flights will be cancelled and diverted. Anyone affected should check with their carrier straight away.

Fuel is supplied to Manchester Airport via an underground pipeline and can take approx 4 to 5 hours to travel from Stanlow.

Pipeline was shut down because fuel was found to be contaminated. Problem now resolved and the first fuel should arrive

at Manchester Airport around 2100hrs tonight. Short haul aircraft not effected as tankers can bring in fuel from local airports

Understand tonights Emirates flight will operate via Birmingham for a quick splash and dash.
