PM Yingluck Goes To Parliament Under High Security

You are giving her too much credit, the figurehead at the bow doesn't stir the ship.

Ahh, but she is there while the storm clouds gather, and she stands her beloved land and people, and guides them through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the Andaman, to the rice fields gold with grain, the electorate will say bless PM Yingluck and our home sweet home.

That sir is the the outcome of the political error of attempting to block the elected representatives from carrying out their legal duties.

What sort of PM makes headlines because she enters the bloody building?

A PM from the party that won a decisive election?

A PM that showed that she will not be stopped by those that do not accept the legal legislative process of elected MPs?

BTW, that appearance will win her some points with the electorate as she showed that she won't be intimidated by hooligans.

The PM just might be rebranded as the lady with courage prepared to face those that seek to deny the people the right to choose their representatives. So many opportunities to show the electorate the difference between the PM and the defeated former PM Abhisit. One is calm and poised, while the other participates in a tantrum in the legislature.

Wait and see my friend. More and more people are starting to realize that she is as much as a dirty hypocrite as her brother. Soon she won't be able to move anymore. Most probably she will end up hiding in Dubai too.

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Care to make an internet wager?

Between the Democrats bungling and the CC overstep, the PM's approval ratings and support will benefit.

Wait for the polling results.

Bypassing the attorney general and article 68 of the constitution has made the cc look foolish and failure to investigate these nebulous claims has made them look politically motivated and then when you see the leader of the cc's record and his stance against thaksin makes him appear an opportunist of the worst sort levered in by the junta.

Nebulous, meaning the democrats refuse to specify any intended around doing. Just hint, hint, nudge, nudge.

Pathetic but part of a plan to get power back.

Reconciliation. What reconciliation.

Even before the ink was dry on the election results they've resorted to the courts to get the government banned.

PM goes to Parliament under high security

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- High-level security was arranged for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra so she could attend a parliamentary session yesterday. This is the first time she has been to the Parliament since the yellow-shirts started protesting in front of the complex.

During her 45 minutes in Parliament, Yingluck was watched over by 10 soldiers from the Naresuan special company in addition to her regular bodyguards. Soldiers also provided extra security for House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.

Yingluck's arrival was met with cheers and applause from a group of red shirts rallying outside the Parliament building in support of the charter amendment bill.

However, the premier refused to comment on whether or not she backs the third reading of the bill, saying it was entirely up to the House Speaker.

While in Parliament, Yingluck met with Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri and PM's Office Minister Woravat Auapinyakul before heading for Government House.

I got ahead of my self, the article said Soldiers so i assumed Army. I also wondered why the army and not the police were escorting her. As it turns out the unit is an counter-terrorism unit - and a police unit.

it's easy to joke about the reasons, or state it was just a photo-op whatever. i'm now curious to why it had to be this particular police unit doing the security.

What has been blocking her entry every other day? She doesn't need protests or protesters as an excuse, anything will do.

A quick comparison - number of debates participated in over the last year

Davis Cameron 43

Julia Gillard 203

Yingluk SFA, Zero, Nil, Nada, Bugger All, zilch Should be jailed for taking money under false pretense.

The PM has most certainly attended debates in the House. Please cite the official attendance record for the PM rather than lie.

If YOU Are refuting what Ozmick is saying why don't YOU provide proof.

Also the Yellow demonstration DID not stop Parliament the police inaction / orders did that.

And I agree with the 1st line about a PM entering Parliament. It it amazing that yesterday she was far to busy to attend but decided another nice photo shoot would be OK today complete with army body guard IN PARLIAMENT <deleted>.

Doing some work on the other hand!!

It is customary for the person making a wild allegation to substantiate his claims.

He wrote; Yingluk SFA, Zero, Nil, Nada, Bugger All, zilch Should be jailed for taking money under false pretense.

His statement is false and it is malicious because he demands that the PM be jailed for taking money under false pretense.

The PM was ridiculed in TVF after voting on the 2nd reading of the reconciliation bill. As her vote was registered, she was deemed to have been a participant.

Go back to August 25. Do you remember when she presented her government's policies to the House , unveiling her government's legislative plans? Do you recall when she was criticized for speaking too long, because she spoke for 2 hours straight, delivering a speech that ran 44 pages? Didn't some of you people call her a windbag for talking too much?

Problem is that was the last time we did see her doing anything but photo calls in Parliament.

We are not talking about coming in for 5 minutes and pressing a button.

We are talking about doing the work of a Prime Minister.

She avoids being responsible for anything because she knows one day she will be made responsible for her actions. There will be a day of reckoning. If she has not taken responsibility for anything then there is nothing she can be prosecuted for. Its as simple as that.

Fully one quarter are appointed via the party list. All those who face an electorate did so with PTP party endorsement, and IMHO few would have been elected had that endorsement been given to someone else. Do you deny Thaksin owns PTP lock, stock and barrel?

Well that is just amazing, you mean the voters had no other choice but to vote for the PTP candidates...........a rather scathing criticism of the Democrats don't you think?

Also you have fallen way behind if you believe that the red shirts are an not important entity in their own right

t

Try not to be deliberately obtuse. The statement was that the PTP candidate was likely to win, so endorsement was an important factor. Who hands out the endorsement, who decides the party list, who decides the ministers? Yingluk?

How many red shirts stood as electorate candidates - not many. And who got the cushy Chiang Mai by-election seat, a red or a Thaksin crony?

Is the process any different for any poitical party in Thailand?....you think Abhist and Korn took on marginal seats

D'oh! the original point was that are in political debt to Thaksin, and now are going to vote to whitewash his crimes and return his money WHICH IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST. By doing so, they will ensure pre-selection for the next election, if not other benefits, far in excess of anything measurable as a benefit for the country, which is CORRUPTION.

Ahh yes I should have remembered the name the same border police unit that held the red shirt leaders prisoners (hotel style) down in cha am.

Not corruption at all......even Abhisit frequently informed the electorate a vote for PTP is a vote for Thaksin.....so all above board then......continue

Maichai, Her brother was responsible, he knew it thats why he did the Thai thing-problem flee the scene, Now she and any MP who wants to try to avoid responsibility, will have to face it sooner or later, only a crackpot in power would think they are not responsible if they do not attend. CEO,or a.n.other. For all the weaknesses Abhisit had -he was decent, he did not flee the scene.

A conflict of interest (COI) occurs when an individual or organization is involved in multiple interests, one of which could possibly corrupt the motivation for an act in the other.

The presence of a conflict of interest is independent from the execution of impropriety. Therefore, a conflict of interest can be discovered and voluntarily defused before any corruption occurs.

Try to understand, that voting for a representative has no bearing on his corrupt actions. Was there ever a PTP policy statement that we will whitewash our boss, hand him back his proceeds of crime and personally benefit?

I find that your inability to perceive blatant corruption says much about you personally and your political leanings. Know yourself - far too often.

So I am correct Yingluck is right to avoid a bill which could result in the returning of monies...the Tv whingers are making a lot of noise with little understanding

As for the other members of parliament, as there is an election process in place and therefore no guarantee they will return which ever way they vote, no conflict of interest

Nice try at the expected insult Mick...... but really, study up on your corruption papers, because "you think", and in "your opinion"..."there maybe" some benefit gained......is neither conflict of interest or corruption......it has to be hard factual evidence, how can you prove that the member of parliament did not vote according to their conscience.....I doubt any anti corruption commitee is going to go for the Tvisa mind reading scenario

I wonder how many derogatory posts there would be if we had to use our real names?

I've hardly started. There are obvious conflicts of interest, which is all a court has to prove. It is up to the defendant to give reasons why he didn't recuse himself and declare his interest. Then he/she has to convince that the conflict did not lead to corruption. Yingluk is responsible for all legislation passed while her government is in power, her conflict is huge, and so will be her culpability.

But of course, that is PTP's aim with charter change, to rid itself of annoying anti-corruption agencies. So, no problem, with corruption, rigged elections, etc. Much like yourself.

A welcome treat for all of us who thought GK was totally humourless and must be Canadian or Belgian. Kim Jong Il's biographer would be green.

No doubt about one thing, she was the chosen one.

I find the wording used of "Yingluck not ignoring her adoring public" quite pertinent. One thing to vote for a politician, one thing to support a politician, but to adore a politician, whomever they may be, i think hints at a person or people who have sadly been sucked so deeply in to a propaganda machine that they are no longer capable of their own rational or objective thought.

Either that or the politician truly is a most wonderful person.... anything is possible.. this time next year i may be having a torrid affair with "i'm-game-both-ways" stunner Amber Heard.
