Lost a chiwawa to theft and the other 2 to a pack of rough soi dogs that bite and really should be put down as they go for children who don't have sticks.

I don't have the heart to put them down myself as a foreigner but am surprised the locals let then bite their kids and do nothing just yap yap about how bad the soi dogs are.

So I looking for where to get the biggest strongest dog I can get like an alsation sp? Or big pit bull type that wouldn't be killed by the soi dogs .

I bought dogs from chalujak, jakujak market in bkk before but 2 out of 3 of them died shortly after from distemper virus cdv that they picked up likely at the market there or before at whatever dog farm they came from.

I would prefer to buy from a real healrhy home rather than dog farm pups.

Any pointers to this big strong dog or suggestions of a strong breed would be appreciated.

Soi Dog Foundation has rescued very recently an (abandoned?) 8-9 y o female Chihuahua. She is fawn-colored and one-sighted.

Not sure if the rescue was in BKK or Phuket.

Now, not your dog, is she? That would be a great reunion! :)

Mine was a white 18 month old lovely little thing. She always used the toilet in unused corner of downstairs bathroom and was a very loving lap dog. 2 other neighbours lost dogs the same day so I am not sure if it was a local that stole them or who. An easy sell at a far away market for whoever did take my dog, I just hope it is in a nice home now and not a puppy farm.

Must Google what a masif breed is. I want a strong dog and no more weak dogs as it hurts too much to lose them after 5 years together.

So these Soi dogs killed 2 of your dogs? Really sorry to hear that! Tragic. I would not exacerbate the problem though by getting a nasty arsed dog though; your channelled aggression to the Soi Dogs whilst walking your new killer might well flick on the attack and kill switch but it is not easy to turn off. Therefore, you will end up with another nasty aggressive dog on your soi, and if your dog attacked a kid you'll be slung in the knick by the rossers straight away (don't forget you're a farang).

You can report these dogs to the authorities and they will get hauled away (sold onto the meat trade from the Authorites no doubt). They will be diseased, so any contact with any dog you get will caused that pet problems. You hitting them could end up in a pack attack on you which you don't want plus the more people hit them, the more aggressive they get in defending their patch.

Just out of interest, have you tried feeding them? bowl of rice with a bit of meat in it once a day goes a long way to placate a pack of soi dogs I have found. Other option, contact SCAD and say you will pay for the males to be castrated (not that much) and get that done - will calm them down.

Other options, if you will be getting a dog, is prior to getting it to take a few cans of pepper spray and walk into their territory and spray them liberally. Do this a few times and they will never come near you ever again. Problem is though that you never quite know if they are really soi dogs of dogs of your neighbours who are just neglectful and damned lazy but will suddenly object to you tossing them rat poison meat balls.

There's a vast difference between a "strong" dog and "the biggest strongest dog I can get", a "big pit bull type", etc. I may have mis-understood your post, but if you are thinking of getting a dog to take-on the soi dogs or if your experience with dogs is mainly with a "loving lap dog" and your dog will need to stay indoors most of the time, use the bathroom, etc, then PLEASE think again.

Get a healthy dog that you can take care of and enjoy - not one that will simply add to the problems you and your neighbours already have with other dogs.
