Been following the forums on Thaivisa for a while now. Entertaining to say it at least thumbsup.gif

Apart from the factual subforums, where newbees normally get some good advice (I admire the visagurus, same questions asked over and over again, and they still manages to keep their cool and give some good advice), we have subforums like General and Pub, where threads seem to live their own life. After a few posts the OP is forgotten and the thread takes of in whatever direction, like a living creature. Those are IMO the most interesting threads.clap2.gif

Posters on those threads (like myselfsad.png ) are not here to give advice, but merely to offer their POV and opinion, for better or worse. I see some posters ("serial-posters" or gobshite's) with postcounts so high, that they must spend most of their time in front of the keyboard. Is that why you came to Thailand ? w00t.gif

I am not trying to have a go at anyone, as I am in the same boat. I am only here because a lack of nothing better to do. Trying to express my opinion (who cares bah.gif ) and sometime create some reaction.

Why are you here ??

I usually only post when I am working. It is something to do to make the day go faster and easy to stop and go back to when I need to deal with customers.

Same, same....it kills a few hours....for me its entertainment for the most part....sometimes I might add a comment which is a half intelligent response or even helpful sometimes

My favourite posts are ones in response to people who take themselves far too seriously....

It's bloody hot working on the farm all day, work for an hour, rest for half an hour.

I can't just fall asleep like my fellow workers, so TV is an easy short-time relaxation choice, then back to work after a rest.

I use it to procrastinate getting my real work done, one of the most useful tools in my box for that purpose.

Usually this is at my own expense in the old days it was at that of my employer, but I'm actively working hard to be a better person from a moral POV.

I find Thaivisa forum an entertaining source of information about Thailand. It is a wonderful mixture of people and information of various backgrounds.

Some writing is just brilliant and some gets unremembered easily.

I have gone through different phases during my time on Thaivisa such as the "newbie" , which means learning the life on the forum, the "shocked" phase, when I believed that there are so many negative people around here. Finally, I got to the "comprehensive" phase, which means I have and understood the life here and learnt how to select relevant information among the plethora of topics. All in all, I am glad I found this forum.

I dont post on here much really.

Only for things I need to know, I will ask a question.

When I do make a topic, there is always someone complaining about why I didnt do this or that. Its pretty funny and this place can give me a smile whether they are trolls or not.

"The Cross-Cultural Sexual Politics of Polyamory in Thailand: How to keep your health, treasure and sanity intact and remain lord and master."

and you all are my co-authors and editors, working just as hard on the project as I do.

I realize that none of you will need to actually purchase the book once it's been published, but I plan to sponsor TV.com for a while to market it, and hope you'll all help pitch it to your friends as well as all the clueless noobs out there.

I was going to cut down my time, on TV, from 12hrs to 6hrs a day. Will have to put this on hold now due to the fact that I don't want to miss

Because Thai Visa forums can be such fun as well as being informative.

I'm on here when I am not making love to a beautiful Thai woman, out partying or watching my favourite television shows on my dvd player.

      Man Dies Instantly in Wrong-Way Motorcycle Crash with Pickup Truck in Pathum Thani

      Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A man riding a motorcycle against traffic was killed instantly after a head-on collision with a pickup truck in Khlong Luang district on the evening of 3 May. At approximately 19:30, Police Sub-Lieutenant Pornpatcharin Narkkee of Khlong Luang Police Station received reports of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a covered pickup truck on Chiang Rak–Bang Khan Road, near the elevated Bang Khan interchange heading towards Khlong Luang in Khlong Nueng subdistrict, Pathum Thani province. Authorities from Khlong Luang traffic police, doctors from Thammasat University Hospital, and rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene. They found the body of an unidentified man, estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, wearing only boxer shorts and carrying no identification documents. Nearby lay a damaged Honda Wave motorcycle, licence plate from Bangkok, and a Toyota covered pickup truck, licence plate also front Bangkok, with its front also damaged. The driver of the pickup truck, 39-year-old Mr Thanakorn Phadungsak, told police he had been travelling from Nonthaburi to Khlong Luang. As he approached the scene of the crash, he spotted the motorcycle riding the wrong way down the road, swerving erratically and nearly colliding with other vehicles. “He suddenly veered into my lane on the right side of the road. I had no way to avoid him, and the collision was very forceful,” Mr Thanakorn said. Police documented the crash scene, and the body was sent to Thammasat University Hospital’s forensic unit for further examination.       Cable Technician Electrocuted in Chanthaburi

An incident claimed the life of an 18-year-old cable technician in Chanthaburi on the afternoon of 3 May, after he was electrocuted while working on a power pole and fell to the ground. The incident occurred at 14:15, at the entrance of Soi 99, Ban Khom Bang, Moo 9, Khlong Narai Subdistrict, Mueang Chanthaburi District. The victim, later identified as Narongsak, was climbing a ladder to install cable lines when he came into contact with a live electrical wire. Witnesses said he cried out, still attached to the live wire, before falling and hitting the ground hard. Colleagues promptly called emergency services and attempted CPR on Narongsak, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigator Lt. Ploypan Arunrat from Mueang Chanthaburi Police Station and a physician from Phra Pokklao Hospital were dispatched to the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation and examine the body. Mr. Marut, 47, a colleague who was working alongside the victim at the time, described the harrowing moment: “We were both working up the pole and had just finished. I climbed down first, and he was following. He had only just begun his descent when he shouted that he was being electrocuted and then he fell.” Ms. Sureerat, 31, another co-worker, said Narongsak had been working with the team for around five months. “He was diligent, very tidy, and safety-conscious. He wouldn’t even work in light rain. I don’t know what went wrong this time.” The cause of the electrocution remains under investigation.
