Shopping for a new Samsung TV. All that I have seen so far have only a single audio output jack-and its digital optical.

I user Sennheiser headphones with TV and computer, the headphone unit has analog RCA phone jack connectors.

Does anyone know if Samsung makes any model/series TV that have the old analog, red and white stereo audio

output jacks?

Using the optical jack requires special cables, special D/A converters, amplifiers, volume controls-an ungodly mess!

I will appreciate any advice/suggestions.

I find it unlikely that a decent Samsung TV would be without a headphone socket which is the same type of output as the red/white RCA sockets.

My high-level model recent 55in Samsung definitely has both audio outputs.

I have Sennheiser headphones also (wireless), and very nice they are too.

I, and a technically capable friend I have enlisted, can only find Samsung TV's for sale with a single audio output jack-digital audio, no headphone jack(single connector) or dual red white audio output jacks.

What model Samsung TV do you have?

Where(physical location) is the headphone jack located?

I find it unlikely that you'll ever find a decent Samsung TV. They don't make them -- that is if you want reliability. Beautiful picture, beautiful package, when the warranty's gone, it will die. Good luck with it, though.

My recent 55in model (still on sale) has a 3.5mm jack headphone socket next to the LAN port and antenna socket on the back. The cable pictured in the previous post will allow RCA connections to this. I just looked on the Samsung website and other models also all seem to have headphone sockets.

Mine also has two other multifunction ports that come with RCA adaptor cables, though I'm not entirely sure whether they are inputs or outputs as I've never used them.

My PC is connected to the screen via a DVI lead and all my audio goes via my headphones direct from the PC audio card output.

Not too bothered; mine came with a 5-year warranty. I'll let you know.

I will caution you, I have a new samsung 40 inch lcd. I love the tv.... by the way i'm a big proponent of rca audio out option for tvs..... but the only audio out is in the back near all the other inputs, kind of hidden. There is a little plastic piece sticking out with a hole in it. That is where your headphones would go (the way you describe your headphones youd need that 3.5 to rca cable posted).

So.... to get to my point finally.... that 3.5 audio out jack on the back of the tv SUCKS. It is so bad. It doesnt make a good connection, and it kinda falls out and i cant get it to rest in there properly. it also gets a lot of feedback (to be fair, this could be some type of user error??). My biggest qualm with the tv so far.

The thing I DO like about the design is that supposedly the 3.5 output is just as good as the rca if you get the right adapter, and it takes up less space back there. They just designed it <deleted> is all :(

Good luck with that.

We have Samsung 32" and 40" LCDs (series 5); 3.5 mm audio out jack seems perfect on both, positive fit, excellent audio quality. Obviously you should mute the speakers. ;)

Maybe you are using the wrong type of connector? Not sure about the feedback? Grounding? Interference?

User's manual details breakout cables including the one I posted.

It just doesn't fit properly, def the correct cord/connector. I do have a series 4 lcd, maybe they upgraded... would not be surprised since it is so bad.

Thanks for the excellent advice/suggestions.

I have been pleased with the Sennheiser headphones(have 2 sets) after ugly experience with 2 Sony units and a Phillips.

I am looking at Samsung TVs after bad experience(s) with Sony and Phillips.

5 year warranty should cover expected life of modern electronic items and I've seen several positive reviews of current

Samsung products.

You don't have to use them to know. Check the labels or look in your manual.

Duct tape holds the world together.

The labels are unhelpful as they just say "multi AV".

Couldnt be bothered to get the box out for the manual. They can all be found on the Samsung website anyway.

The TV definitely has a headphone out socket, and an optical audio output, and possibly one or two more RCA audio outputs.

Very true. You don't need to get the box out and you can download the manual online. If the ports are multi-AV, perhaps they are configurable in firmware.
