[Myanmar] Un Continues Relief Efforts In Arakan State

United Nations agencies operating in Burma are continuing to respond to the aftermath of recent violence in Arakan State, according to a UN spokesperson. Martin Nesirky told reporters in New York that the UN’s World Food Program (WFP) has distributed emergency supplies to around 66,000 people displaced by clashes between Buddhists and Muslims, while the UN’s refugee agency, the UNHCR, is monitoring the situation along the border between Burma and Bangladesh. The Burmese government has asked for humanitarian assistance to help people at more than 40 temporary relief camps, Nesirky said.
