Chance Of An Upgrade With Qr Gold Card

Am having to fly QR economy on my next flight back to LHR and was wondering what the chances of a free upgrade would be seeing as I am a gold card holder with QR.

Anything I can do to help my chances? I don't want to use miles or pay extra as a friend is paying for my flight.

Touch and go.

You should get to check-in at the right desk for upgrades being a gold card member, but a lot will depend on whether economy is overbooked.

You presentation and demeanour may have a lot to do with it as well.

Asking out-right is the pet hate of all check-in desk staff.
