David48
I might be wrong, but think 'Work Permit' first ... then seek 'volunteer opportunities' ... crazy I know.
petercool
Depending on qualifications, the Father Ray Foundation on Sukhumvit Road just down from St Niklaus church is one thought. There are also at least two branches of Thai Police for a long term commitment for which Work Permits are waived under agreements with Police and Immigration. There are a few schools where you can help out in English classes unpaid too.

allane
A bit off topic I know, but anyway....here is a a volunteer opportunity for those of you with vehicles. I am more than willing to volunteer, but most of the volunteer opportunities are at institutions on the edges of town (located there because that is where the cheap land is or was). When going to a volunteer opportunity, I am not willing to pay extortionate prices to songthaew or motorcycle taxi drivers to take me there and back. Going there is the smaller problem; if I couldn't negotiate a reasonable price, I simply wouldn't go. But, I don't want to go someplace, and then be forced to pay a king's ransom to have someone take me home.
