Hi all I'm heading to Pattaya for a week soon and need some dentistry done. I need am extraction and am implant so it's the kind of thing you would want an experienced dentist to do. If any one knows of any that would be great thanks.

You should know that in most cases, it's all about the doctor, not about clinic. Doctors usually serve in several clinics on daily basis.

So if you choose your "leading" doctor he/she could direct you, even if she's not capable doing certain work (e.g. implants).

I sincerely suggest Dr. Phontip. She is specialized on removals and she's working in Modern Smile @Pattaya Klang on Thursdays, Pattaya International Hospital, and several others.

Hospitals are essentially different only by pricing.

P.S. The doctor has managed a very complicated removal for me, and it went flawlessly. I don't remember the overall price, but it was certainly lower than the common 8,000 for removals.

I am very possibly the worst when it comes to teeth, i am really really scared.

Anyhow, http://www.dentalpattayabeach.com

I found them to be excellent in all aspects.

I had root canal there and a few other minor things done.

I found doctor who came from BKK to do the canal, spoke excellent English, kept communicating with me throughout and really made me feel comfortable.

The job was also excellent and reasonable price.

Have tried famous Dental Smile on 3 rd and was not impressed at all.

Felt like butcher was working on me, the assistant did not even look at where she was putting the suction tube, so kept sucking my cheek or tongue.-just really rough.

Am I reading this correctly, 8,000 baht to pull a tooth?

I dont doubt you some may have been quoted that, I dont doubt others have paid it, but really 8k to pull a tooth, someone somewhere is pulling someones plonker.

The standard price to pull a tooth in any Thai clinic is 500 baht.

Agreed. I paid 500B for a fairly recalcitrant back tooth recently, including anaesthetic injections and various tablets of painkillers/antibiotics for afterwards.

...... but really 8k to pull a tooth, someone somewhere is pulling someones plonker.

Maybe that is what the extra charge was for. smile.png

Mr wanchai: on south pattaya road, same side as Friendship supermarket but about 70 matres from the junction with third road. I have been using him for 15 years and he has been brilliant. I have had crowns, root canal treatment and one extraction and hs prices are nowhere near what some of the other posters have stated. I visit him each time i come back from working at sea for clean, polish and check up, cost under 1000baht. He does not open thursday and Fridays, but opens at weekends.

I pay 500B for that, including anaesthetic injections in all four quadrants (it would be impossible to clean my teeth correctly without these, though every time the dentist says "we dont do that in Thailand" and every time I reply "check my records: you did last time and if you dont do the same this time you wont last 10 seconds in my mouth").

I have found that the Pattaya International Hospital will over-charge for treatment.

Let me just say it was really complicated case. I've been quoted 8 grand up. Of course, out of those who did not say "oh no, we cannot do that, go elsewhere".

P.S. I'm a cheapskate and never pay an extra dime unless I'm absolutely convinced to. whistling.gif

Please share the location with us.

It was dental4you, or dentalforyou, or dental4u or some such combination. They are directly opposite Tukcom.

My only problem with them is that they couldn't do implants for me. "Not enough bone." I will be checking elsewhere for a second opinion as my dentist in Europe never told me that I didn't have enough bone for implants (which isn't to say that the bone hasn't diminished since then, of course).

I've used Dental for You on many occasions and they also have an implant specialist there full time.

He did a good job with 2 implants for my brother in law a couple of years ago for 80k Bt.

The OP needs to realise that most dentists in Pattaya don't do implants unless they call in an implant specialist,

so it would be better to go straight to one that does like Dental for You.

I'll go in for a cleaning and see how they are. I have been going to BPH dental to a Dr Apinya (sp?) and I am happy with her but the price of going there for a cleaning is now over 1000thb.

Back in January during my yearly checkup the x-ray showed that I had a cavity on the tooth that my lower bridge was anchored to. To correct this the bridge had to be removed, the cavity filled and a new bridge made. My dentist couldn't do this work and the dentist in her clinic wanted B18,000 per tooth (B54,000) so I decided to shop around and did a pretty extensive search in Pattaya and several places in Bangkok. I visited about 10 dental clinics and narrowed it down to Dr. Cherry at DentalSmile Clinic on Second road and Dr Tapasit at Studio Smile near the Dolphin roundabout. Others had also recommended Dr. Tapasit so I decided to have him do the work. He was excellent and I highly recommend him. Total cost for the work was B36,900. I did find cheaper prices at some of the other clinics, the cheapest around B20,000. Dr. Tapasit speaks excellent English. Check out his website for details: www.studiosmilethailand.com

Just for another opinion you might want to also check out the other clinic: DentalSmile, Dr. Cherry, www.dentalsmilepattaya.com

Keep in mind neither of these clinics are going to be the "cheapest"

Good man, over 1000 baht for a cleaning is well out of order.

Too be honest I personally wont pay over 750 baht depending on location, but usually pay 500 baht.

I have just had considerable dental work done after researching many dentists in Pattaya-without a doubt it has been a most pleasurable and rewarding outcome and the man that did the work is Dr Warin Leekpai at the DENTAL CARE CENTRE on Pattay klang-I was recommended to Dr Cherry also in the Central Festival but she quoted 30% higher.biggrin.png

Well Dental Smile which everyone praises so much, advertise 500 baht, only to be charged 800-900 after the clean, claiming "oh but your teeth were more dirty"

More dirty than what?rolleyes.gif

Also the same Dr Cherry from Dental Smile tried to tell me i needed 10 fillings at least, which was really funny, because i went to try the "clean" after seeing specialist elsewhere who did all the fillings just 3 days before.

The place I go to lists cleaning at 500-800B. Once I did indeed pay 800B instead of 500B, though I have no idea why as they didnt do any more that day than they have done every other time I go there. I go for cleaning every three months on the nail.

Jomtien Soi 5 would save me a bahtbus trip.

Is there only one dentist there? How much is cleaning/scaling, for example?

One thing that appeals to me about Dentalforyou is that they do have a proper implant specialist on-site. (Even if he couldn't actually do an implant for me.)

check dentalsmilepattaya.com, had rootcanals caps and cavity repairs for a good price Dr Cherry is an english speaking thai woman , one year so far for me and no problems

Why the big secret withholding prices? Surely the OP should be able to decide what a "good price" is!

I had a new top plate with six teeth for 1700 baht. Smile, Pattaya Tai.
