Hello I have a question about Thai tourist visa. I will be visiting Thailand in July and my stay will be for four months. I'm a Canadian citizen but I didn't realize the Thai Embassy in Toronto wasn't same day visa issue. They have a next business day service and stupid me I thought i could get it the day before I leave Toronto. My question is this can I get the tourist visa for my stay in Bangkok? Can I enter on the 30 day tourist visa and then apply for extension? Will they let me in the country without a tourist visa since my return flight isn't for four months? Thanks for the help.

Your problem might be being allowed on the flight without a Visa.

You might have to buy a flight ticket leaving Thailand within 30 days.

A cheap Air Asia flight will do if you have to.

Any extension would only be short (7 days) and nowhere near what you need. The best option is get an onward flight at some point to a neighboring country and get a Tourist visa, a double entry 60 day visa would cover the period you need. The Air Asia option above is good advice or they may not let you board in Canada.

Thanks for the feed back guys I really appreciate it. I wonder if the Thai embassy in Toronto would expedite a same day tourist visa for me instead of the 24 HR wait. I'm kicking myself in the ass for being so stupid and waiting till the last moment. Well what's done is done I just need to make sure I make my flight. So if I book a flight to Cambodia from Bangkok they will let me board in Toronto? This sucks what if I planned to take a train before my 30 days were up? Now I have to book an extra flight.

Again thanks for the feed back guys I really appreciate it. I got lucky and recieved and email from the Thai embassy in Toronto and they can do my visa same day. I was sweating there for a moment. Never again will I wait till last minute.

The Toronto guy is really nice I am not surprised he agreed to do it for you. I agree that you shouldn't wait till the last minute next time, as a double entry or higher is valid for 6 months anyway so you would have had plenty of time even if you applied early.
