I hope this business about coming back in another life is true as I would want alot of Thais and foreigners to come back as animals that are abused and maltreated.

Go vegetarian!

I've always wondered about the vege and PETA crowd. How come they never defend precious lives such as flies, cockroaches, mosquitoes and other insects? Do these living creatures deserve less sympathy simply because they're less intelligent...or not as cute? Can someone please explain to me????

Not sure what your point is. Are dogs and cats in danger of extinction? I think not.

My only point was if one wanted to protect living creatures, one should be consistent. Not just be overly concerned about the cute and cuddly creatures among us.

A pet dog might say 'Look how well I have this one trained, he feeds me every day and picks up my poo'

My cat used to speak quite clearly. "Me out, Me out now"!

Specially when your Chinese neighbor visits and looks at her licklips.gif

Gandhi once said 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.'

Doesn't say much about Thailand does it!

How are pigs, and cows, and chickens, and lobsters, et al treated in the west before they are slaughtered?

Let's try not to be too overly hypocritical....

Farm animals are treated pretty bad in the west but worse here. The way they are slaughtered in the west varies from humanely to inhumanely but only inhumanely here. Domestic animals are usually treated fairly well in the west, they are usually treated fairly poorly here and often go without treatment when obviously suffering.

Total nonsense. Again some white supremacist stereotypes

I don't remember the number of time I took my dog to the vet and and found myself in the waiting room with people bringing in an injured dog or cat that didn't belong to them but they have found lying next to their home. And of course paying for the treatment.

Of course there some acts of kindness but it isn't as frequent as you might think. Go to any town or village in Thailand and you'll see packs of dogs with many suffering from mange or worse. I've seen dogs that have chewed off their own legs hobbling around and others that are crippled pulling themselves along on their front legs. Most have owners but let them run loose and lets not even start on how few are 'done' to prevent unwanted puppies. To compare animal welfare here to that of the west is like chalk and cheese, nothing to do with white supremacy, just a simple fact!

Can't say I've seen "dogs that have chewed off their own legs hobbling around" (thank God), but at the same time I haven't "found myself in the waiting room with people bringing in an injured dog or cat that didn't belong to them but they have found lying next to their home. And of course paying for the treatment." - despite spending an inordinate amount of my time at vets with one or other of my dogs...

Both posters are going a touch OTT posting rare occurrences as examples to prove their point.
