Internet Speed Using Router Via Wireless

Featured Replies

Hello,

I’ve got a 7 MB internet connection (TOT) at home, and sometimes downloading some movies.

But I also have a wireless connection in my house on campus, where I do get a signal from a nearby hotel.

I’m using a USB antenna and a 5 meter USB cable to get a better signal. Fact is that the signal couldn’t be much better.

Some movies download with 1 MB speed, depending on seeders

How can I have a much faster connection through a wireless connection instead of the one I’ve got at home, setup with a router and paying for?

Is it possible that the hotel has got a much higher speed connection? Thanks for any input!

My big concern would be security, not speed. You're using a public access point. You're wide open to being hacked. When I'm in a hotel, I try to never do anything important (banking, pay bills, etc). Just too risky.

If you truly have 7Mb now, your wireless should be about as fast with your service as opposed to the hotel's.

Just one of many articles:

Run a (in an elevated cmd session on windows)

tracert -d mail.invadeit.co.th

on both paths, see where the bottleneck is. It's possible you could have half duplex on your wired connection, which would slow your wired speed.
