No not really. The inspection garage will inspect it. Take a small 'service ' charge and go and tax and insure it. Easy.

Drivers are not requested or required to produce any car documentation when undergoing the annual tax and insure procedure?

Still have not given up on the thought that the right Person reads this Topic and can point me in the right direction.

Sucher. Check out the thread about the burning car parts warehouse. Now there's a fella that may need some cash. Maybe his invoice for your engine survived the fire.

I believe your girlfriend or wife should be able to look for the invoice for you. If I were in your shoes, my supervisor at work would be able to do it for the right price.

I hope you're able to sort it out. Good luck.

The inspection garage takes a 'rubbing' of the chassis and engine number so can't see how that will work at the tax office when they don't match and no invoice to explain the mismatch.

Well. I would have thought that as the car doesn't have To go to the transport office. A helpful inspection garage could stamp a piece of metal with the required number. Then rub that. Ofcourse there would be a monetary gain for them.

Then all sweet. Just saying they could.

@ the OP. Contact Absolute Auto Parts, Ph. 081 936 2626. Khun Arm, the boss speaks excellent English. They are in Bkk, but will send to you. Have used them on several occasions, never any problems. Transport cost Bkk-Hua Hin 1200 baht. Have all kind of engines, make sure you chooses something close to the one you have already, will save you a lot of headache. A few times I bought 3,0L or 4,0L engines to install in Willys, apart from getting them into to carw00t.gif , they are way to powerfull for an old car. Khun Arm will ask you to pay in advance into his bankaccount for the engine, have done it several times, never any problemsthumbsup.gif He will fix the transport for you, give you a price and you will pay the transporters directly. I presume you don't want the engine in the condo, so you better make a deal with a garage about the change and use their adress for delievery. Use the old engine as payment/partpayment for the garage.

As for all the "good" advice about taxing without the correct paperwork, it is simply not true. I have 6 (!) Jeeps all with changed engines, uses the same agent for tax/ins and one time they could not locate the engine#. No way, they were going to let me of the hook=no new stickers. Found it later and problem solved. But they are cautious with an old car, where it is obvious that the engine has been changed. Best of luck!whistling.gif

What's TRUE for you is not always true for others this is Thailand. With many inspection agents. But yes it would be BETTER if it was sorted properly.
