Need Help Finding A Part-time Maid

Featured Replies

I've been looking for a part-time maid working perhaps 3 days a week on general housework. Anybody has any recommendations of how to go about getting one. I've asked around in my housing estate but without success so far.

I also contacted a cleaning company who quoted me 3500 baht a month for one day a week service. It seems a bit pricey. What are the going rate around here? My house is a 2 storey semi-detach, relatively small I would say.

I'm thinking of putting up an ads in Carrefour but not sure what wage I should state.

Any info appreciated.

you should ask icecubes or poppa, they can get you a full-time housekeeper for 2k baht/mo (insider joke...couldn't resist). If you can avoid a cleaning company, you might be able to get someone for 1-2k baht/mo (a wage equivelent to 6000 baht/mo, with one day off a week), but if it's only short term and you don't want the hassel, 3500 isn't all that much by western standards.

When I rented my apartment, the owner cleaned my room for free, twice a week...but it was a small apartment.

ads won't help, IMO, best bet is to keep asking around the estate, avoid the agencies, i've heard to many horror stories, pay a daily rate of 200-400 baht I reckon, its more than a Thai would pay, but will be attractive to someone

:D In my (European) country a cleaninglady wouldn't even start for that money for 1/2 hour :o

Who's complaining about Thai salaries :D
