Duang reports as shooting instructor at police training centre

BANGKOK: -- The youngest son of Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, Pol Lieutenant Duang Yoobamrung, reported to his new job yesterday as a shooting instructor at the Metropolitan Police Bureau's training centre. It was also revealed yesterday that late Pol Senior Sgt-Major Suwichai Rodwimud's son had entered civil service as an officer at the Police General Hospital in May.

Duang was accused of shooting dead on-duty Pol Senior Sgt-Major Suwichai at a Bangkok nightclub in 2001 and then fleeing, which resulted in him being discharged from the Army the following year.

After Duang surrendered in 2003, he was acquitted on grounds of insufficient evidence and conflicting witness accounts. Later, in 2008, then-prime minister Samak Sundaravej approved Duang's application to return to the military.

Yesterday morning, Duang - dressed in a police uniform - reported to city police chief Khamronwit Thoopkrajang, who welcomed him, urged him to do his best and follow discipline. Khamronwit said he would put Duang in charge of introducing a new training method and urged the recruit to greet other senior police officers.

Duang, however, declined to speak to reporters.

Pol Colonel Supat Peungpoung, who oversees the training centre, said that transferring Duang to the city police training centre was a good move because he was very skilled in using pistols and hence could put such knowledge to good use by teaching it to other officers. Since the centre usually invited experts to lead training sessions, Duang would be the centre's first in-house shooting expert and instructor, he added.

Meanwhile, police spokesman Piya Uthayo said National Police chief General Priewpan Damapong and his deputy Adul Saenbgsingkaew were focusing on tackling unrest in the South and that police continued to search for evidence and work closely with the Army following Tuesday night's bomb attacks in Pattani.

He said the police would be strict in searching vehicles and hunt for suspects wanted in relation to previous attacks. As for the attack on July 25 in which five cops were killed and one wounded in Yala's Raman district, the Royal Thai Police would donate Bt1.68 million as additional aide to the families of those killed, apart from the Bt105,000 already paid to the injured officer, he added.

Piya said the Royal Thai Police had also approved, in principle, the appointment of the 101 children of policemen who died on duty. So far, 46 have already been appointed and 11 others are currently undergoing the appointment process.

The new appointees include Suwichai's son Kittisak, who obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Ophthalmology and has been serving as an officer at the Police General Hospital since May 4, he added.

Unbelievable, proficiency in cowardice acts is a prerequisite for this police force? Disgraceful, shameful and any other words that can describe this turd is to good. Hope his alleged victims son is an excellent marksman as well! R.I.P to the victim R.I.H to the alleged murderer!

Congratulations to Kittisak for not only overcoming the obstacle of growing up without a father, but also for entering a field in which he contributes to helping others.

On the other issue raised in the article, it was a bit disappointing to see the government's financial remuneration for the families of those police killed in the South was so low when compared to the 7,750,000.00 Baht paid out for deceased Red Shirts.

Here we have a guy who walks into a nightclub and guns someone down, he flees the scene and is later arrested and aquitted because there are no witnesses. Now they appoint him as a firearms safety and tatics instructor for the Thai police. <deleted>...... Surely this would be the last person you would appoint. What next appointment of the local godfather as the Attorney General?

Duang reports as shooting instructor at police training centre

Well, I found the headline a bit misleading. I read it that he reported as having shot an instructor at the police training centre. Then I realized, nah, he'd never turn himself in, so I must be reading it wrong. sad.png

All about connections. You get way with murder if you have connection

I feel sick.sick.gif

"was a good move because he was very skilled in using pistols"

Is that right. Has he proven this? 1zgarz5.gif

That's the trouble with the creature, drink all night, night draws to a close and it's and pistol dawn.

And remember, there was no favoritism in his assignment.

I'm sure every new police is received personally by the police chief and Deputy PM.

One thing we can be sure, under Thaksin/PTP control the RTP is only bound to get worse.

Most probably you are looking at a murderer who should have received the death sentence.

Not to change the subject, but when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans the mayor handled it terribly. That man now hires himself out as a disaster control expert. Go figure.

Joke of a police force, joke of a man and joke of a father.. not much more to say

Be very, very careful Duang, when anywhere near a pistol range. New recruits are training, and the odds of a nasty range accident just increased exponentially.

Congratulations indeed to young Kittisak thumbsup.gif and best wishes for a safe and successful career with the Royal Thai Police. This young man who was deprived of a good father 11 years ago has risen and met the challenge.

By comparison the "daddy's boy" that is the subject of the article has had doors opened and closed behind him on his slimy journey to where he is today.

I am sure Suwichai Rodwimut, his dad, would be proud of his son's achievement, while the facial expression on the father of the other one seems to show mild embarrassment (IMHO of course)

I trust that Duang will always have sufficient security or bodyguards with him to prevent any "accidents".

As for the remuneration to families of deceased killed in the south, easy to figure that one out.

I feel sick.sick.gif

Me too.

I, on the other hand, will hope the opposite.

One law for the rich and privileged in Thailand-another for the poor!

Its not what you know...

Its who you knowph34r.png

What do Douang and the giant panda have in common?

Eats, shoots and leaves.

Eats, shoots and leaves.

Good man. Good comma!

Good man. Good comma!

I would have expected nothing less from Thaddeus!rolleyes.gif

A bit ironic really.

"But that wasn't really the case. Part of it was that it was difficult to dislike Matt Payne. He was a pleasant young man whose respect for the others was clear without being obsequious. But the real reason, which Payne didn't even suspect, was they were actually a little in awe of him. He had found himself in a life-threatening situation-the Northwest Philly serial rapist would have liked nothing better than to run over him with his van-and had handled it perfectly, by blowing the scumbag's brains out."
