August 6, 201213 yr ... Ive been sent a complicated .dwg file that has no layers. This is new for me! I need to separate the design up, then convert the files in order to import into Maya. Gave NuGraft a try for converting, but the outcome is dodgy. Any thoughts on the best approach? I recon i need to ask for the layered Autocad file, right? I cant see a way with this file in Autocad to pull apart the model. Once i actually GET it IN Maya, im set..but the process getting it in there is sending me round the bend. Want separated import files so i can model each section individually in Maya. (As an aside, i have DirectConnect plug-in loaded, but Maya wont import the .dwg file regardless). Have hunted around the net already..but so far, not much of great use.. THANK Youuuuuuuuuuuuu for any thoughts!
August 6, 201213 yr Author Ive been able to import the .dwg file into Inventor Fusion, then separating the parts and exporting as .obj. The resulting .obj model files are messy, but workable. If anyone has a simpler solution, please let me know. THanks!
