three kept behind and were swarming around me for about 5-6 minutes. I don’t know but I think they were waiting for the dead quiet stretch with road starting a few hundred meters after the drive off to Mission Hills Golf Club. I was at this point aware that they did not swarm like that to say nice hello.

Call it what you want Stevenl. We all know that a gang of youths/ teenagers on motorbikes in "now mans land" follow lone cyclist or motorbike drivers to be support vehicles!

Man, how many hours of whining you waste for your replies here. Some teens on their motorbikes had some fun with you.

Teens do things like this, scaring people. You are the perfect victim.

And what you want to do to avoid simular situations? Wearing a camera on helmet, take photos?

The eastern roads are full of these little moslem punks, especially at school holidays, bad but harmless idiots. I ride my bike there at least three times a week, I had a lot of this "situations".

Be a sportsman, not a forum whiner!

Today there was an drug checkup point done by navy together with local police. They also had doctor/nurse to do on the spot drug tests.

Count my posts and you will probably find I waste less hours here than the average. Now Wikinger or is it Viking! This is not waste of time, this is information. If you have had a "lot of this situations" then that is information for anyone else using that area for training and to be more plain a sign of more youths without work or school to attend and autorithies unable to cope with an increased unemployment rate and increased gang/crime activity by youths.Call it whining if you prefer but the fact is that the local culture of not "speak out, offend, confront or report incidences makes the opposite to the intention of being "silent", it makes the daily life for locals and foreigners more unsafe and soon any activity outdoor will be unsafe unless your locked in a club or with Police escort when bicycling.

I think your report is very useful and appreciated. The incident definitely cannot to be described as normal behavior if a group of local youths circle around you on their mbs for 5 minutes and as per your description did not signal a friendly approach.

Not easy to understand how dumb some posters here react on informative and helpful postings. Too many heros like Wikinger and FritsSikkink on the island, hehehe.

If you call somebody a hero when he doesn't shit himself when somebody gives him a strange look, then i must be one.

By most standards i am not, just a normal guy.

So far I remember it wasn't some body but 7 bodies and yeah you're my hereo.

Buy an x box never go outside it's safer.

Teenagers do this take the piss out of targets, as a westerner on a bike your a target plain and simple.

If they try and stop you ect have a cup of concrete and tell them to move on firmly. They will in 99.9% of the time.

Like the previous poster I also ride and have experienced similar groups, in asia and in Europe. Try riding through a council estate late at night in south London where if you show fear your guaranteed being a victim.

Wouldn't worry to much but don't cycle at night here it's madness just with the traffic.

Ride safe

Go to the Pattaya section and see where cyclists were attacked. This happens in many places in Thailand. Suggest that you carry a broken bike chain within easy reach to protect you against soi dogs.
