Internet When It Rains

Featured Replies

When there is heavy rain in Bangkok seems my internet goes very slow or a complete outage especially with WIFI. Water getting in the "spaghetti cables and wiring " thats exposed or not insulated well I guess.

Along with the satellite service, it seems rain stops play here in Thailand entirely most of the time. Have spoken to True about this, and with the satellite, it's heavy rain blocking the signal. They could solve this by changing the frequency, but, well, they can't be bothered and if you're not Thai they don't give a monkey's anyway (actually, they don't care if you're Thai either). With the cable it's hard to say, other than I'm amazed it works at all here. Those twisted spaghetti loops of wiring they have here are amazing.

When my ISP was True, I also experienced a considerable slow-down of the Internet speed during rain.

Repeated complaints succedded in having their technician check my place and they found that the connection box outside the house was not waterproof.

Anyway, I changed to TOT, which - at least in my area - is much faster and more reliable. They also put the connection box inside the house and my rainy days are gone.

As I type this, a thunderstorm is hitting us, but my download speed is still 11 Mbs. (Thaivisa speedtest against Singapore server).
