The rubber guys are way short of a hinted at 100 Baht a kg for mats

First of all we sell/they buy by the kilo.

Not mat.

And yea, it dropped like 12 bht. in the last 10 days....

Excuse me, 11.

take no notice of the rubber associations posted prices, I and others have tried to contact them as to where these prices are being paid. Never get a reply, they often quote local prices higher than the national auction rate. They give an Ubon price and I know of no big buyers in Ubon [factories]

As for mat or kilo if you make sheet it should be about 1 kilo, 3 liters of latex, just an easy way to know how much you have without weighing, count the sheets each day and you have a good idea of how much you have, Jim]

I do take notice and use it as a guide and it is quite accurate.

Never tried to contact them but I sell every month or so.

So I do know what's up currently at any given time.

Depends on where you are.

I am in rubber land.

The south.

And have many farms......

Yesterday a bizarre announcement by the government to set up a cartel in an attempt to control the global price of rice. What the hell are they thinking. I try to keep out of politics, however this could've been a story taken straight out of not the nation, that fantastic satire website. For more information is an article in yesterday's newspaper we cannot mention I also found some information here.

This week the Thai government has announced it is to form a regional cartel with other countries that produce rice. Vietnam who exported more rice than Thailand this year, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand are officially joining the regional alliance who believe they can manipulate the prices to increase 10% annually. An agreement is expected to be signed by each governments trade ministers before the end of 2012, the cartel is planned to be called,”ASEAN Rice Federation” said Mr. Yanyong Phuangrach, the Thai commerce permanent secretary.

I wonder if this is just another scheme that 1 billion baht can be pumped into and siphoned off through corrupt practices like the failed rice pledging scheme. cheesy.gif

Anyone have any thoughts on this cartel?

Great for the farmers if it worked liked OPEC but the linked article explains perfectly why it can’t.
