Hello, my passport is full, need to obtain a new one, I have 7 months left on a non imm o visa, do I need to go back to Thai immigration for a new stamp and multi entry stamp, or can I keep the old passport with these stamps? Thanks in advance, I did google and couldn't find the answer.

You can apply on line, pay by Credit Card on line and pick up your New Passport at the OZ Embassy Bangkok.

I did that and a new Passport was waiting at the OZ Embassy in Bangkok in 9 days. They send it in a Diplomatic Bag.

They confirm that it is your Passport by checking the old or in your case the full passport and cancel it. They then give you back the old Passport.

I then took the Expired Passport and the New Passport to Chonburi Immigration and they transferred the stamps to the new one. Forgot the cost of the stamp transfer.

Hope this helps.

As OZEMADE mentioned, once you have your new passport, go to your local immigration office to have the stamps transferred from the old to the new passport. This service is free of charge.

As you mention multi entry stamp and return to immigration believe you have a multi re-entry stamp? And have a one year extension of stay from Immigration? If you do then yes you visit immigration after you get new passport for transfers.

If you actually have a multi entry visa from a Consulate you just present both passports on next exit of country and continue to use old passport for any new visa entry (which will be stamped into the new passport - visa remains valid in old passport).

Thank you for your help, I don't like visiting the immigration center if not necessary, so I understand I can keep using the old passport for visa and re entry for the next 7 months untill I have to go back to immigration to renew the 12 month visa ?

No you must transfer any extension of stay - and if you obtained at immigration that is what you have. Only if you were here on a visa (which is issued by a Consulate outside Thailand) would you take care of transfer at border and use two passports.

Thank you, yes I think it would be a worth while trip to the immigration office to have the stamps transferred, better to reduce any problems at the borders.

It is not an optional decision. If you have an extension of stay you must have it transferred at the immigration office you obtained from. Up until the current year everyone had to visit immigration when they got a new passport - but now if only here on a normal visa entry of 90 days or less they can take care of it at border when you exit.

You are on an extension of stay from Immigration (have such a stamp in your passport) and subject to 90 day address reporting?

A couple of questions, as I'll be in a similar predicament next year. If you renew your passport in your home country overseas and re-enter the country with a brand new passport:

1. Will the airline want to see a return ticket or will they accept the visa in the old passport?

2. I would get a 30 day stamp on re-entering Thailand. Do immigration change the date you can stay until when they transfer the extension of stay and re-entry permit stamps?

Thanks for the above info as I was going to post similar.

You can you use the old passport since it was obtained while outside the country if on an extension of stay.

For a visa obtained from an Embassy or consulate using old passport will be required until visa expires because visas cannot be transferred to new passport.

1. Visa validity is not effected by passport validity (as long as not damaged). A US VIsa is normally 10 years so most travelers have in an old passport at some point. Airline folks should be well aware of situation.

2. You would get the normal visa allowance - if on an extension of stay your would get the normal re-entry permit time in old passport. You would not get 30 days unless your visa were invalid or you did not mention/enter on arrival card.
