Phuket 2000-Phuket 2012

The good thing is, is that if you want to see Phuket as it was 30 years ago, just drive off the island 40 kilometres in any direction and there it is.

Except West.

Probably best not to drive 40km West...

How can you drive west of Phuket, except in a boat??

I think that may have been his point. It's called tongue-in-cheek humour.

Not everyone understands it.

Nice! I wish it still looked like that. It must have been quite a few years ago...

I made up my mind to buy a house and live in Patong partly because of the new (at the time) Jungceylon shopping center. Patong also has good access to airport, international schools, medical care and reasonable power, road and internet infrastructure. I haven't been to many countries but I've met a lot of people that have and they choose to live here, that’s good enough for me. I still thank my lucky stars I can live on this island and think the climate is perfect. (Nope I don't work for Thailand tourism.)
