THREE WEAPONS FIRE IN FATAL CAR SHOOT-OUT

THE NATION ON SUNDAY

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: -- Three guns were used in the fatal gunfight between people in two cars that claimed the life of Farut Thaiseth, the 27-year-old son of Chada, an Uthai Thani MP for the coalition Chart Thai Pattana Party, in Nakhon Ratchasima's Pak Chong district last week.

Meanwhile, party adviser Banharn Silpa-archa visited Chada yesterday and urged him to be cautious, as the motive for the shooting remained unclear.

Police now suspect the drama stemmed from a road rage incident, chief investigator Pol Colonel Wachirawit Kritritthisak, deputy Nakhon Ratchasima police chief, said. An inspection of spent bullets found at the scene showed there were three guns involved; two 9mm pistols and a .380 pistol, with the latter belonging to Farut.

Investigators also visited garages in Pak Chong, Wang Nam Khieo and nearby areas to look for the culprits' vehicles, he said.

Nakhon Ratchasima police will interview Chada, an unnamed woman and three people who were in the car with Farut in Uthai Thani tomorrow. Chada had said earlier it might be unsafe for the three eyewitnesses to travel to the province where the crime occurred.

Nakhon Ratchasima police chief Ong-ard Phewreungnont was told in a meeting of investigators yesterday that an inspection of an modified Mitsubishi pickup found in Pak Chong's Tambon Chanteuk had not yielded any evidence to link it to the murder. He ordered police to interview Farut's witnesses in detail and take photographic evidence, and affirmed that the probe was in full swing.

Banharn, meanwhile, yesterday visited Chada's residence in Muang Uthai Thani to give his condolences and morale support. He went to talk with Chada and family members in private for an hour before returning. He told reporters what happened was unexpected and since the case remained unclear he urged Chada to be extra cautious. He apologised Chada for not being able to attend Farut's burial ceremony, as he had another matter to undertake.

The bib are really expediting this investigation. Barely enough time for all concerned to get the road rage story straight.

If it was a simple case of road rage why are the police telling his father to be cautious, surely with the death of his son all the road rage should be over ??

Why was Farut carrying a gun with him in his car & did he have a licence to do so ??

Road rage my "arse"

Just another cover up until Chada can find those responsible & take his revenge!!

Is it possible Mr "Do you know who I am?" let road rage take control and pulled his trusty .38 revolver only to find the other car was carrying two 9mm automatics?

Not quite as stupid as bringing a knife to a gun fight, close to it.

I read the other day that the father was saying to the dozy cops, who perhaps had a hand in this, or at least a pay off based upon their ludicrous initial conclusions on the motive of this shooting, that they need to forget the road rage idea, and that if they don't sort it out in a month, he would "take care of it". Clearly not road rage, but what is the odds that some poor bastard who right now is supping beer watching his wife washing his pick up is about to be put in the frame for this act of road rage. Anyone who has a tricked up pickup like the one described should think about torching it. Now.

Why do you discount the evidence of the 15 witnesses (per BP) who claimed it was a road rage incident? What constitutes "clearly"?

""It's likely that the perpetrators wanted to kill MP Chada Thaiseth. They hit the wrong target after he changed cars," Pol Maj General Ong-art "

Very specific road rage then. What did they do, manufacture some agro on purpose against a car they thought contained Chada, who had a few moments before changed cars to his beemer? And then strafe it and be retaliated in a pitched gun battle like something out of Terminator.

Hate to quote him, but ....

"Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said he believed the operation was well planned, dismissing a theory that Farut was a victim of road rage."

Or, you can believe the load of tripe the cops are pumping out.

"Or, you can believe the load of tripe the cops are pumping out." Isn't that what you are doing? But not those on the scene, some REMF who will say anything for self advantage.

The BP reported 15 witnesses that saw the cars repeatedly overtaking, flashing headlight and use of the rear mount light on the ute. BEFORE the shooting.

But it doesn't suit a pol that his boy dies in something as mundane as a road rage incident - it must be assassination for VIPs, and the tame pig is prepared to play along.

In an assassination the overtaking vehicle pulls alongside and from a distance of less than 2m the victim gets shot. Here we have shell casings on the road and in the victim's car, which means he had time to reload his revolver. does that sound like a surprise attack?

Almost a daily occurrence in Thailand "meu peun rab jang' Gun for hire. A few weeks ago at a busy set of traffic lights in Bangkok one car didn't move after the lights turned green The cars behind sounded their horns, to no avail. One driver got out so see what was going on. The driver was dead, shot once in the throat and twice in the head!

What I fail to understand is the man who knows all ''Chalerm'' doesn't seem to have a clue as to who was involved in this matter. Perhaps it's that confounded ear infection that is hindering his wonderful oracle type skills.

Wonder where his boy was at that time ?.

Pol Maj General Ong-art = the regional police chief from the area where the incident happened. Anyway, what are you doing posting stuff from the Bangkok Post? Against the rules I believe.

.380 is a small semi-automatic, not a revolver. I doubt the 9mms were Uzis, HK MP5's, or the like, therefore semi-automatics.

No revolvers were involved. .380 is not a .38. It is a small semi-auto and as such ejects spent casings after every round fired.

The .380 cal round is a 9mm short round often fired from a blowback pistol.

.380

9mm luger parrabelum

.38 super

are all pistol rounds of the same diameter.

.38 special

.357 magnum

are also 9mm in diameter but mostly fit in a revolver or special pistols such as the desert eagle pistol and few other brands.

Earlier Nation report said

"Jarumporn said police gathered 10 shell casings from two different 9mm pistols. Police also found casings from a .38 revolver in the Prado."

Try reading the rules. I was referring you to the article with a brief summary, not cut and pasting.

Pol Maj General Ong-art was accurately described thank you. And the event still does not have the attributes of an assassination attempt.
