Hi all

I am looking for a thread I saw a while back that listed the required information/documents necessary to apply for an extension of the permission to stay. I was sure I had saved it but, alas, I either did not or cannot remember where I saved it. (The joy of age) biggrin.png

For reference, I started with an O-A (retirement) visa, and got an extension of the permission to stay by reentering the Kingdom just before the visa expired. That permission to stay expires December 25. This will be my first "real" extension.

I have found a number of threads on extensions based on marriage or care of a minor but have not located the thread I saw.

Any help appreciated.

You will need to visit the immigration office serving your location during the last 30 days and submit a TM.7 form with a 4x6cm photo on back side and pay 1,900 baht for a new one year permission to stay. So early December should be good. For specific office requirements you will have to say where you live but in general you need the financials of 800k in bank account here for 3 months or 65k per month income letter from your Embassy or a combination to meet 800k per year. You will also need copies of your passport data/visa/extensions and departure card signed by you. Some proof of address may be required as that determines what office you use and perhaps a drawing/map. If you use bank account passbook/copies signed by you/letter of account balance by manager. If using 65k the letter from Embassy. Normally this is a same day process and often takes only minutes. Two copies of forms and other documents may be required outside of Bangkok.

- application form TM7

- copy of passport

- passport photo

OR

bankbook and letter from bank confirming money in the bank for at least two months prior to application (3 months every extension after this one!)

OR

- maybe they will require proof of your address, (rental contract utility bill etc.)

@lopburi, I'm in Chiang Mai.

Thanks both of you. Looks like no problem. For some reason I thought there was more required but, as I said, there is that age problem. biggrin.png

Don't use your avatar as the photo submission or your extension request will be disapproved for sure!!! Just kidding. All you need is just as Mario2008 and Lopiburi3 identified...the immigration office will probably have you read and sign a few more short forms while they are processing your extension request but that's standard practice...you'll probably leave the immigration office an hour or two later thinking "Wow, that was easy!" Cheers.

@Pib,

I am in real trouble then. My avatar looks better than I do in person. biggrin.png

But they do require photo taken within last six months and at times go through passports and files to make sure they have not seen it before. Easy enough to take/print yourself - normally they are not very fussy about size or quality.
