The CCTV will probably show the alleged smoke happened after the impact as a result of damage to the Radiator and A/C condenser and the consequent leaking of coolant etc over the hot motor/exhaust. But there's not much feeling of resentment towards those folks, eh? Just as much resentment, driving on after an accident makes it worse no matter who does it. But as a rule there is more resentment towards people with money as they often bribe themselves out of it. Grandson of Red Bull founder arrested for hit and run, killing local police officer. They even covered the fact that the BiB attempted to cover up the incident. There was the recent incident in Singapore which has caused a backlash against wealthy foreigners there. The accident was caused by a wealthy Chinese investor in Singapore that ran a red light, hitting a taxi broadside and killing 3 people. It appears that those with wealth feel they are entitled to drive as they wish with little to no repercussions. He said the test was conducted later in the day because investigators conducted several tests, including collecting DNA samples and fingerprints inside the Ferrari car. Shocking statement. Do they really think people are that stupid? If the kid had been drinking a lot the night before, there would still be alcohol in the blood system in the afternoon anyway. A Pathologist can easily determine what the blood alcohol was at the time of the accident. Interesting times ahead!!! Better get Porntip on the case!!! More broadly, I'd like to think justice will be done. But considering this IS Thailand, I'd be betting my money that this guy never serves a single day in jail based on any future sentencing... BTW, now I realize, the above OP article makes absolutely NO mention of the guy's custody status... Is he in jail overnight? Did he get released on bail? Most likely a 3 year suspended sentence, 200 - 400 hours of community work, make merit once per year for three years, and make compensation with the family of the deceased. How do I know? This exact scenario happened to a business aquaintance of mine. Drunk, drove his Benz into a motorcycle, killed the driver, drove off, sobered up and handed himself into the police station the next day. This scenario is a little different (a little bit more high profile presumably).!!! The cops followed the killer to his house right there & then.!!! Anyway, only time will tell.!!! Jim walker Posted September 5, 2012 Share Posted September 5, 2012 I think we all know the outcome of the trial and we all know what the judges ruthless verdict will be all a forgone conclusion, the verdict and sentence is probably being typed up right now as we read this post after all we are in Thailand possibly a fault with the Ferrari launch control made him drive on I am sure there will be a good shady excuse for the accident before he starts his few hours community service. The culprit gets convicted for manslaughter because witnesses withdrew their testimony and the CC camera clips were lost or were inconclusive - pays a fine (the amount is irrelevant to someone like that), a very short period in in prison and massive compensation to the victims family. Something which works in more grown-up, educated societies. Looking at the spoilt brat's face I see no emotion, regret, sorrow or anything else. So many people responsible here, not just the 27 year old driver. Who issued his drivers licence, I'm sure that was paid for like most other Thai drivers. What about Thai society which socially justifies fleeing the scene of a car accident to protect themselves without bothering to offer first aid or call for help. What about law enforcement or the judicial system which loves pricks like this. So sad, RIP to the victim and his family. May true justice be served. Chalerm seems to have it sized up correctly based on the news. In that it became a "premeditated" murder, attempted murder or certainly manslaughter at the very least - once he decided to keep driving with the motorcycle and the human being attached to the Ferrari and banging around on the asphalt for 3 football fields of city road. This not counting attempting to have a company driver take the fall and the police obstructing justice by shielding the real driver. The family of this piece of garbage will pay the cop's family a very healthy sum of money. That will make everything better and the press will keep it out of the media. People should boycott all Redbull company products if true justice is not served. Finally, condolences to the family of the police officer that was murdered.
