Suan Dusit Poll reveals citizens pleased with drainage test, but unsure of system effectiveness

BANGKOK, 8 September 2012 (NNT) - Suan Dusit Poll, conducted by the Rajabhat Suan Dusit University, surveyed the opinions of 1,152 citizens in Bangkok. The subject of the poll was on the government’s drainage test which was conducted during 5-7 September.

It was found that 38.26% of the people surveyed were quite pleased with the test on drainage capability of Bangkok.

They felt the test helped create confidence, ensuring them that there were efficient water drainage plans in place.

Of those polled, 29.5% were quite displeased, because they were of the opinion that the test could send an impact to citizens living in other areas or close to the test zones, due to the daily heavy rains.

In addition, 31.77% of the respondents were not quite confident that the aforementioned drainage test would really prevent or resolve the flooding problem.

They were of the opinion that natural disasters could not be controlled.

I was thinking the same. The headline contradicts the poll.

Better order more "Water pushing machines" pronto !!

Seems to me that a four hour test under controlled conditions would have no reality in connection to the flood waters last year or hopefully not but in future years.

How long would the Nation stay in business if they had to print honest headlines?

The 'nonsense' might be correct, the naivity is puzzling and the negativity I don't understand.

IMO it's all a show and a waste of time. The real test will come when the floods come, then we will find out how satisfied people are !

Haha. Sure it does. Over 38% were "quite pleased". The headline doesn't say it was a majority. It's definitely a misleading headline but it is supported by the usual worthless poll figures that they based the article on.
