Import Duties On Electronics From China

Featured Replies

Hello all :)

I was planning on importing external hard drives from China. I read somewhere that electronics are tax exempt if shipped from China. is it true? Does anybody have any experience with importing electronics from China to Thailand? Can you share your experiences please :)

I don't know if there is import duty on it. If not you still pay VAT (which will be something like 10+ % when they calculate the 7 % in their strange way) and the fees for the customs clearing.

If there is duty on it and it is exempted from China, than your supplier need to send you the "Form E" in Original before the customs clearing, by Express.

It is not true. Import duties are actually published on the internet, and vary greatly depending on the product classification. Once ASEAN gets going 2015 there may be reduced tariffs in some kind of bilateral deal (ASEAN & China)

I too have been looking at importing electronics from Shenzen or HK. Feel free to PM.

I posted this in another thread

Hunting for import duty rates for power inverters etc I came across this site http://www.dutycalculator.com/

It's actually a (not very cheap) paid service but you get 10 free calculations so for those importing rarely one can get a fair idea of how much they will potentially get stung for.

Warning to those easily addicted, it is only 10 free calculations!

I bought several electronics item from china , i told the seller to declare it below $50 depending on what you bought. Discuss with the seller so if you need to pay tax you pay em low
