I bought some Massaman paste a couple months back from Paragon I think. I happened to get lucky as it was not near the other pastes but was refrigerated near the fresh food sections. This massaman Paste was refrigerated. It is by far the best paste I have ever had. I'm hoping someone is familiar with this paste. Something about mother in law or the word mom in the paste. It has a less than smooth texture and is easily the best I've ever had. If anyone is familiar with this please let me know!

Thank you

I buy mine from Makro it is consistently very good,in the herbs and spices section it is in big pots but also already bagged and weighed up i think around 40 baht which will give you two Massaman's.

Any spice mix like this is trial and error but easier than making your own

Possibly the popular MAE PLOY แม่พลอย brand.

I have a tub of NAM JAI น้ำใจ Mussaman paste in the fridge which tastes great. Between uses, I just keep it in the freezer and it's lasted for ages. The instructions say use 4 tbsp per serving, but 1 is about right for me.

Thanks for the reply's. I am now positive I got it from Paragon. I went there yesterday and saw it was discontinued. :( When you would walk into the Gourmet market in Paragon you would walk to your right and there are some coolers near the beef section. it was right in there. I got the last two 50gm bags. It was refrigerated so I'm guessing it was low on the preservative side too. I have to tell you it's THE BEST I ever had. I've made fresh paste and it wasn't even as close to fragrant as this.. I'm so disappointed I didn't write down the brand or their website. Here is a link that shows what very closely what it looks like. This may be the brand. I am emailing them to find out if they sell it anywhere near me. I will also check emporium today. The consistency is more of a chunky salsa than a pureed paste. I'm not sure what it is.. the freshness or what.. But there is a lot of love made with this paste.

Yes I tried it.. Many times. After being at the Makro food exhibition, I saw some pastes that were roughly pounded instead of a smooth paste. I think I will just not be lazy and make my own. lol

Tel. no. on About link. She says 5 stars OTOP from Chonburi for 3 years continually. This brand is sold in Paragon, may be what OP find.

I tried to FB them to see where I could find the paste but have not heard back from them. Thank you for your help though!

When I started to cook curries, it seemed that cooking them quickly was the way to go. I just purchased a slow cooker and braised oxtail with my massaman curry. First I seared the $hit out of the tails though. (Took over an hour for a kilo). VERY VERY delicious.! The collagen from the tails thickens the sauce. I highly recommend trying this. My Thai fiance, her sister, cousin, and friend tried it and loved it.!

PS do you ever add spice (spicy/phet) to your massaman?

Thank you

the wife says macro do the best pastes tried local market and tesco macro the best

Thank you! My girlfriend and I went to the jewlery and gem show at Impact. It just so happened that Makro was having an exhibition across the street. We went in and looked around for the curries but there was only nam jai in there. I a'm heading to Udon Thani today so I'll check out Makro and see what they have.! Auntie Waen looks VERY close to the paste I got at paragon but she said they only sell the Massaman paste at makro. Maybe Paragon had a special going ? Thank you for all your help. Are the curries by the section of the bulk spices? Near the fresh fish area?
