Why Older Men Love To Gripe In Internet Forums

What was interesting though, was that the most foul-mouthed men were all discovered on local forums, i.e. general topic forums specific to cities or regions of countries. Expatriate forums were the worst of the worst.

If you click on the author's profile, it says he lives in South East Asia/UK so you know this is one of the ones he is talking about laugh.png

Because after being stuck on this planet for 50 or 60 so years, we have plenty of things to moan about and lets face it, if we never had the forums with a captive audiance to whinge on, who else would listen to us?

I think it's sweet that you think anyone listens on the internet. 60 years old, and yet still so touchingly naive...

I’ve a few years to go before I reach 60. I was only giving a broader spectrum of ages.

And people do listen or read our stuff on the Internet. For example, you have responded to me, so it shows you`re looking at my posts and good to know you are a bit touched.

if I asked you, what do you think of it so far? Please don`t answer, rubbish.

I'm going to go to the mall and sit in the food court for a couple of hours today and complain about how things don't work as well as they used too and that things are more expensive too. BTW - Get off my lawn!

Although we didn’t get to interview any of these blokes, we got the feeling that a lot of them are either divorced, or in unhappy relationships. We came to this conclusion by the way so many of them slagged off women at any given opportunity.

Any individual who repeatedly refers to themselves as a plural has self-importance issues.

Griping on Internet Forums is less dangerous than griping at home, lots of crimes happen at home, be careful there..

..Just saying..

The original post on this topic linked to another forum which is against forum rules, I have removed the link.

One more gripe from an old man. I read the link on the post. What struck me as something that is overlooked by society because it is a mens issue,( which means society as a whole could give a rats ass) is that high level of suicides in men over 45,and that men in western society are most unhappy people in the society. With this in mine when men say anything about it,or say what perhaps brings it on, the political correct and feminism groups shuts them down. Think about it folks. Men should be allowed to be heard same as the rest of society. Forums are the only place they can express issues without direct insults and persecusion. Long live the male forums.

When men are mentally and emotionally castrated on a daily basis, because of popular political based actions, they get angry and hold it in. It has to come out at some point some way. Many choose the route of suicide. Even in their darkest hour they still refuse to hurt others because they hurt.

And then there are people who make stupid statements about nothing. Because they didnot take the time to digest what was written or what they read.

I am sure the writer of the article didnot do all the work himself so using we is a team term and quite acceptable expect to those who read and donot comprehend.

What is interesting though is the writer didnot even bother to look into why the men were divorced or unhappy in their relationships.Oh yes i forget sorry they are men if they donot like it that their problem right. So men will just go off and keep killing themsleves and no one will give it a second thought.

Fashion crimes, horrific kitchen crimes - you so don't want to know about the alleged meal someone made for me -, but anyway, what was I going to write????

Sounds like someone's been thrown out of the Dull Men's Club...

You'll find that site a bastion of well-spoken and polite gentlemen, many of whom would fall into the categories highlighted in the OP's reference

SC

The Club is pretty decent. I bet you didn't know that have a listing of airport baggage carousels;

Bangkok (BKK) - counter-clockwise - big ovals - thanks to Bill Blaker

Koh Samui (USM) - clockwise - stupidly tiny carousel - thanks to Jamie Regan

And no for my gripe about Phuket: They take way too long to unload the bags. And why is it my priority tagged bags are are not near the first bags unloaded? What's up with that Thai Airways?

It was actually a reference on another Thailand forum to an article on Japanese man-hole covers that aroused my interest (if that isn't overstating the case) in the club. In the seven years since, I have visited their web site on several occasions. I was aware of the carousel thread, but never had cause to refer to it.

And then there are those that make assumptions.

I read the whole thing, twice, and one thing that stood out a mile for me is his self aggrandisement. He wrote that article all by himself, but tries to make his opinions carry more weight by inferring that they are not just his opinions.

The writer is also on MeetMe, Quora, Vimeo, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Google+, open-salon, LinkedIn, Facebook and several other lesser known sites, that strikes me as a tad obsessive and a little bit attention seeking, but hey, that's just my opinion.
