Four activists who were detained and jailed for protesting against the Latpadaung copper mine project have been released from Monywa prison. Three local women—Thwae Thwae Win, Aye Nat and Phyu Phyu Win—were the last of 12 farmers to be released after police broke up a protest at Sutaungpyae Pagoda in Sagaing Division on Monday. One activist, Wai Lu, who was also detained, was released on Friday too.
