I have a couple of friends coming in Thailand for 90 days and I told them to get a tourist visa (60 days) to be extended here of further 30 days. The thai consulate in Turin told them that right now tourists cannot stay in Thailand more than 60 days, they are forced to leave the country for a visarun and thus they should apply for a double entry instead.

Am I missing something here, something really change lately or the consulate for some reason is giving them the wrong information?

Thanks :-)

Thanks :-)

I thought so, basically nothing changed, I wonder why a thai consulate should give you a wrong info, a guess... To make extra money on it?

Nothing new. In Sweden their consulate claims that I must return to Sweden to get a extension of stay after the first year.....letting me believe that I must go home all the way to Sweden and buy another Non Immigrant O for heavy money they are debiting for that.....never mention that I can go from VISA to "extension of stay".....

So nothing new, be careful with these consulates and always secondcheck their information they give...

Cost the visa (total 2 visas per person) 100.00 € consular fee + 60.00 € visa office fee + 20 € shipping cost

What consulate is this? The office fee seems irregular and the shipping cost on the high side if it is a registered letter. EUR 100 for a double-entry tourist visa is excessive.

P.S. I see it is the Thai consulate in Turin, Italy.
