[Myanmar] Bbc World Service Seeks Office In Burma

The British Broadcasting Corporation, which has run a Burmese-language service for decades, is seeking to establish an office inside the country for the first time. In an interview with The Myanmar Times, BBC World Service director Peter Horrocks said the first priority is to “offer a substantial training package and to establish a project office.†The BBC was often criticized by Burma’s former junta for its allegedly biased reporting, and more recently has come under fire for supposedly favoring the Rohingya Muslim minority in its coverage of communal clashes in Arakan State.
