A former managing director of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), the state-run agency that manages Burma’s fossil fuel resources, has rejected opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s criticism of its lack of transparency. “It’s just a puzzle,†said San Lwin, who is now a consultant for China National Offshore Oil Corporation Myanmar Ltd. “MOGE alone doesn’t have the authority to sign a production-sharing contract. How can you say MOGE is not transparent?†he said in an interview with Bloomberg. Suu Kyi, who is now in the US, has urged Western investors to shun the company.
