[Myanmar] Farmers Party Registers To Run In 2015

A party that seeks to represent Burma’s farmers is in the process of registering itself so that it can run in the country’s next general elections in 2015, according to a report by The Myanmar Times. The Myanmar Farmers Development Party aims to put farmers in Parliament, said founder Kyaw Swar Soe.
“The farmer class—those who work the hardest—are the poorest,†he said, explaining the need for a party that speaks for roughly two-thirds of Burma’s population. He added that he expected to win the approval of the Union Election Commission sometime this week.
