The #511 AC bus terminates at the Southern Bus Terminal. You can pick it up along Sukhumvit, It turns right in front of Central World then left on Petchabury then past MBK.

The #507 AC bus also goes there. It runs along Rama-4...any bus stop inbound around Silom, Lumpini or Hualumpung Train Station.

The trip takes about an hour during normal traffic conditions: B32

These buses run about every 15 minutes.

Idk if the above is helpful for you but I'd suggest taking a mini van from the Bus terminal to Victory Monument will be both quicker and easier. (it should use the elevated rd and Rama 8 bridge and thus be miuch quicker). Then just take the BTS to Silom.

You could take the 511 then change at Centralworld but a bus to silom but even in normal conditions it most likely will take much longer than suggested above to get into town given the route it takes. I'd avoid any bus which goes along Boromaraj. rd, Ratcha Damnoen Klang and Phetchburi rds, as the 511 does, like the plague unless you want to get through a good chuck of War and Peace. (any time between 11pm and 5am would be ok though)

never ever seen vans from Sai Thai to Vict. Mon-as its an easy normal bus ride (take THIS bus NOT from Sai Thai terminal, but opposite-its the 515 or 539-but both are due to big jams due to new metro works on+along their way. Note that about any Thai gets off the bus BEFORE it turns back into Sai Thai-thats where you catch all these buses and miss out a long double track.

There ARE vans to Pratunam, via Phetburi and many to Mochit (BUS terminal, not BTS).

The local BMTA busstation@Sai Thai is a bit hidden behind a new regional-van under construction (maybe now finished) lot, where 511, 28 and 507 (plus a few more, like 66) stop/turn. THIS 507 runs via clogged up chinatown, along ram IV/Hualampong main and hence passes Silom at Snake farm etc.

Another ,probable quicker way is to take any 149 (again as first line-opposite Sai Thai) to the BTS-extension @ Wong Wien Yai and then take BTS, 149 continues over the river and serve Sathorn to end at Klong Toey. OR AC 177-similar route as far as WWY.

Oh-BTW, in any case youre looking at a busride of at least 1 hr in peaks. Your note about taximeters is real for SaiThai-for many years, even in the old ST, it was famous for being maffia-style monopolised no-meter and Phuket-style outrageous fare-hiking.

IF take taxi after all, then do as above-get off before where all the Thai do and hail a passing one.

In case, you have time, and sightseeing is yours:

Get a bus to the River, take a boat to the Taksin bridge, use the BTS
