The Malaysian vessel Sinar Bima has arrived in Burma’s Arakan State with 500 tonnes of aid for refugees displaced by clashes between Buddhists and Muslims earlier this year, according to a report by The New Straits Times, a Malaysian daily. Noor Azmi Abu Bakar, a logistics coordinator for the Putra 1Malaysia Club, which raised and transported the relief supplies, said on Sunday that the ship was waiting for clearance to anchor at Sittwe port. “The supplies would be carried by barge with the capacity of 1000 tonnes and shipped to Sittwe Port, which would take 15 days,†he said.
