i dont know how long you have been in thailand and how much you know about the places selling these bikes, but you are never gonna sell aplatinum 2-3 year old bike for 40 k,the warranty dont make me laugh where are you gonna take it back to big c/tesco lotus the stall wont be there anymore ,the same with the shops that open up to sell them in my experience after two to three months the shop will have shut and disappeared.

if you are so sold on them pokerkid go and buy one ,i dont know if you have seen one in real life or are you going buy the pictures when you say its agreat looking bike ,i think you can make any bike look great in pictures however up close in real life its a different story.

apparently you got a crystal ball to see the future, good on you.

god bless, i am ignored at last by pokerkid!

and funny as you report my post to the mods so they deleted it. it shows how you handle others opinion. i am sure you feel ashamedbiggrin.png

you talk and talk about how good platinum are. what else can you say more? you did not even ride one.

it is you never understand what i am mentioning here. You get everything as personal.

I am just asking, If platinum is that good, why there are not even a second hand one sale?

or owners of Japanese bikes are explaining why they did not bought on even though it is 1/3 cheaper. is that wrong?

if you act like the savior of Chinese bikes with no facts, you look funny and people criticize you here, why not?

anyway, i hope you can buy one platinum and share your experience with us. i do not think so it is coming though as i am sure, even you have no guts to get one, right?

good luck for you man.

Sorry no crystal ball , I just look at the reality of things and of coarse speaking from experience as I have owned a Chinese bike before for a couple of days.

Owning a chinese bike "for a couple of days". How much experience can this be?

It was three days you "owned" a GPX. Or four? One week? Than your friendly chinese dealer took it back because you weren't satisfied.

And this makes you an expert in the complete chinese motorcycle industry?

Let's say it was enough for me to learn my lesson wanton same as you and your tiger ,notice you didn't buy another but opted for a Honda of all things, err and no the friendly Chinese dealer did not give me mOney back ,we had to go to the police who put us in contact with the office of fair trading once gpx new we had contacted these people gpx head office rang us apologising begging us not to let the office of fair trading take up our case, they then sent a guy down in truck to pick up the piece of shit and refund our money ,the police also told the guy we bought the bike Fromm that he cannot sell these bikes as he has no license to sell of road vehicles.

Oh and just for clarity it was 2 bikes in 3 days that I had of them ,so unreliable they were I didn't even get to take them of our 10 rai plot off land apart from when they were in the back of the truck being returned obviously

Wow, than the friendly GPX company has taken the bike back and refunded the money. This is very generous, as they weren't the one who sold the bike to you. Some people call this a good customer service. Maybe they would have done the same without threatening them.

But whatever, you had your traumatic experience with a chinese bike. Get over it. Don't waste the rest of your life with fighting against chinese bikes. Have fun smile.png

Wow, what an advice? get over it and forget your pain? No one forget a bad experience wantan. So you want him to turn his cheek again?

Unreliable companies try to screw us and we do not complain about them? Tanin is connected in Thailand as he lives here for some time. What about another farang does not know Thailand or fair trade bureau, i am sure that guy just give up his 40 k and forget about it.

We praise companies for their good products not for their after service bc it is all about not calling the after service and not going to the service that much right?

This is a very interesting logic you are applying here, wantan. If a product is so crappy that the buyer returns it the next day, you conclude that the person can't be an expert because he/she didn't own it for a longer period of time?

Like: ten thousand flies can't be wrong, sh!t tastes good?

Rolo, are you sure you are able to decide what is logical and what not? It seems you cannot even read.

Which Chinese bikes are you the proud owner of? Or are you just selling them but ride to work on your Honda?

I agree with both of those statements. One, it's great customer service if they take back that shitty bike. Credit where credit is due.

Second, indeed, why fight what you can ignore.

Dont worry wantan. No need for rumours. Everybody knows that!

Strange thing is on another thread....or maybe this one back away.... a few people were praising the reliability of the GPx bikes they own. It's pretty hard to believe the same company could send a defective bike out to their dealer, sell it then have to buy it back in a day or 2! It doesn't make any sense.

What i find strange is that noone of these "china product haters" says a single negative word about Kawasaki quality if other members report serious issues like broken frames and collapsed shocks.

But if there is a bearing failure on a cheap Lifan Cross that has been ridden in the dirt than they will never forget it and talk about it the next 10 years.

Of course everage japs quality is still better than everage chinese quality. But anyhow, its a strange phenomenon imo.

I do not even hesitate to criticize my own bike here for just giving some ideas to the others man! unlike you guys.

Please seize things before judging others.

If i can criticize my own bike, i can criticize any bike which is good for all of us here as with every clash of ideas, we can reach somewhere.

What i do not understand here is people taking my words personal, strange really!

So, i think some people have some hidden agenda or personal gains on attacking someone trying to provide some criticizm and septicism.

i find the whole chinese bikes threads extremely tedious boring and repetitive, just going over the same <deleted> all the time

please do us all a favour then and stay away from these threads. all you guys do is scare away the owners of these bikes who were willing to give us some reports of their bikes. Looks like you are enjoying it otherwise why would you come back to a boring and tedious thread again and again and again..... coffee1.gif

and who you are Chinese Bike Owners advocate?laugh.png

Let them speak here gods sake, you do not even have one so you have to ask yourself first what are you doing here? like a non profit support for Chinese bike owners?

And i am sure some Chinese bike owners appreciate some criticism here unlike you.

OK, you have said you are one of the "china product haters". But you should not take everything personal. I was talking about lack of critical comments to SERIOUS issues on thai made bikes from japanese brands. Not only critical comments from you. And for sure i didn't meant critics about "shaking mirrors" at high speed and "pipes that sound like a sewing machines".

since your all moaning about no owners leaving reviews about chinese bikes i have found some on the internet for you i have put my favourite line of the whole review in capitol letters enjoy......

Now i have wrote guides warning people against other chinese vehicles in the past. however i didnt go by my own advice. all my friends were getting 125's and a friend of a friend offered to swap my yamaha moped for his chinese enduro bike (hongdou gy) 'so it was easier to get it in the garage'

i didnt have a close look at the bike but swapped anyway completely oblivious to what id just done. he told me it needed some work like panels and indicators etc but i didnt quite realise the extent of the problems.

The bike at first glance needed 1 side panel and touching up on 3 others and a full set of indicators. it had bits touched up without masking aswell but i looked past it. after a few days of riding and wondering what all the wobbles and wierd vibrations were i had a good look around, heres what i found.

rear sprocket was held in by 1 snapped pin out of 4 this was the main problem. the back wheel had 6 spokes missing. back swingarm had play, back tyre bald, front dipped beam not working (even after replaced bulb) brake light not working, back brake was poor and didnt last more than 2 weeks. fitted new indicators and they kept playing up as the connectors were poor. exhaust was rusty and snapped 2 weeks later.

i really should have got my money back or atleast looked at the bike first, this bike was 06, so i thought how bad could it be?

the back wheel buckled after 4 weeks really badly, the back brake wouldnt bleed properly at all as the seals had gone and it was drawing air in. i think it was a month later, 2 of the engine mount points on the r/h/s snapped and had to be rewelded. had problems with the chain/sprockets wearing out so replaced them all. the standard chain snapped and cut into the wiring to the stator and so cut the spark out. clutch always slipped really badly from when i first owned it

battery died around this time, fitted a new one, then the electric start packed up completely, charging system also refused to work at random which meant the indicators flashed a bit eratically. the front brakelight switch went a few times, back brakelight switch also broke. choke lever snapped off as it was stiff and <deleted>, went through clutch cables like noones business, one every 2-3 weeks, made my own ones in the end. went through 3 throttle cables.

3 months after owning the bike the engine blew up, it seemed a bit down on power so i dropped it down a gear and bang it went. 5 mile push home and found out the piston had hit the valves. bought a second hand engine from furbers £180 as the bike served as my main transport.

the swingarm bushes arent available so really you need a complete swingarm, these come at a cost of around £80 brand new? the pins to hold the sprocket in cost £20, the linkage for the swing arm with piss poor bushes is £40 odd? full rear braking system is £100+ the parts are hard to come by hence ripoff sites breaking whole bikes and reaping in the benefits with prices like these.

the wiring had fried in a few places hence losing brake lights dipped beam etc, both switchgear units broke, the horns broke (yes both of them) the panels are poor quality, made from cheap paper thin plastic, not flexible plastic like on proper enduro bikes. not to mention the gy bikes look horrible... i modified a dtx rear end, front mudguard and enduro headlight onto mine.

i know theres plenty more to add to this but i cant remember it off the top of my head...

dont forget insurance... for me to insure a honda cg 125 with 1 years moped no claims it was £170 tpft. for a start you need to find a company to insure the bike. i rang loads before searching the internet and finding rampdale. this company also takes you for a ride... £340 tpo. had to be paid i was stuck with the bike. bare in mind when buying a new bike you need a company to insure it via the vin til dvla issue you with a reg number, rampdale is the only company ive heard that does this.

so to summarise; the bikes are cheap, once youve got one youll have a bare minimum parts warranty if any, your demonstrating to other bikers you havent a clue about real bikes, you will have endless headaches, using the bikes daily will need daily maintanence. they will cost you far more in the long run in parts, insurance etc. i dread to think how much a garage would charge if you werent mechanically minded! they handle <deleted>, they are dangerous, they are horrible to look at, they are rediculously unreliable and will probably ruin your life.

Just pay the bit extra for a nice yamaha/honda. dont ever waste your money on one of these bikes!

ok there are no reviews of the new platinum px250 i guess you have to have customers actually buying the bike to get reviews obviously they are not selling in any nimbers to get reviews, there are plenty of reviews of the old model would you like me to post them for you they are not very complimentary.

oh and i did see some of dean burnnes (op) posts on another forum but he has not updated it their either since december last year ,i dont know why you or one of the others who seem to love them so much dont just go and buy one after all its only pennies they cost.

I have never heard of the brand of motorcycle in Tanin's post, neither do we know the age of said motorcycle. So the review was pointless and unjustified cherry picking unrelated to any bike available in Thailand. Tanin seems like a nice guy, but he is obviously threatened by people who are finding value in Chinese bikes half the price of his own machine.

Nevertheless this guy took this completely knackered bike and repaired it for 340 pounds, including a new engine. Try replacing those same parts on a Honda and see what your bill will come to.

Posted (edited)

thank you for the compliments cannuk, that review was written in 09 and the bike was an 06 so it was just more of an example of what you can expect from these type of bikes over a longer period of time of coarse is doesnt relate directly to the platinum but i have explained in my other post about why their is possibly no reviews of the platinum,if more people like yourself bought them we would get some decent feedback but most of the jokers on here just claim these are good bikes when they have never owned or ridden one and havent even got the balls to put their money where their mouth is and go and buy one.

oh and if i had to do all them repairs to my honda it would be free as it comes with an excellant warranty and last time i checked the honda dealer was still there.he hadnt decided to pack up shop overnight and disappear.
