This applies to everyone who holds a Bank of America credit or debit card and uses the card at ATM machines as their source of money while in Thailand. Take note. All of the following information has been proven and documented and noted by an * as such.

-Bank of America has not been sending out replacement credit and debit cards promptly when the old card is due to expire. Their policy states the new card is sent 30 to 36 days before expiration. This is not always true. They have sent cards in as little as 16 days before the expiration date. Since their policy states the delivery will take 14 working days to recieve your new card, you can easily go passed the deadline.*

-If your replacement card is sent after the old card has expired your PIN number will be changed. You will not be notified of this change. The new PIN number will be sent to you by regular mail even if your new card has been sent by next day air delivery.*

-If you attempt to use your new card using your old PIN your account may be blocked.*

-When you receive a replacement card it must be activated. You may be directed to where you can activate the card on line. DOING THIS DOES NOT ACTIVATE YOUR CARD! It activates its use only for charged purchases. ALL OTHER services will be locked until the PIN is used to fully activate the card. The services locked out until full activation include money transfers and any other transaction other than retail goods purchases. Attempting to make any other transaction may get your card blocked from all uses.*

-On line chat assistance is EXTREMELY unreliable. They will give erroneous or inaccruate information and even outright lies.* Most chat persons do not know many of the services, time limitations and company policies.* Most of them do not have a full working knowledge of the on line forms.*

-For requested services such as mailing information as PIN numbers the date that is stated the information will be sent is not necessarily the date it WILL be sent. The dates usually given are 'will be processed by'. As example, a electronic check authorized to be sent will be sent "in four business days" according to online help. The actual truth is the check, unless requested early Monday morning their time, will be PROCESSED in one week. (4 business days, weekends excluded) and sent at some time after the processing. Nowhere in their policies does it give a time frame of after the processing the actual mail will be sent.*

-Should the online chat service not fully answer your questions you will be directed to a toll free number. The toll free number IS NOT FREE and actually costs more than calls made to ordinary numbers from Thailand. Depending on what number you call you may be charged up to 90 (ninety) baht per minute.*

-Bank of America does not offer any assistance for the hearing or vision impaired. If you cannot receive satisfaction from online chat and their phone service your only recourse of action is normal mail. It can take up to 20 days for your mail to be recieved and the addresses they give may not be the correct ones for dealing with your particular problem.*

-In the event of your money being inaccessible due to any of several reasons, the on line chat persons may direct you to making retail purchases and requesting cash back as the only way to access your money until the problem has been rectified.*

-In attempting to access your funds, you will be directed to online wire transfers or Western Union money transfers. If your credit or debit card has not been fully activated at an ATM using the PIN, these services will NOT BE AVAILABLE though Bank of America suggests their use in many places on their web sites. Their chat service representitives will also suggest this.*

To reiterate. All the above information has been verified as true and has been documented by hard copy recordings BofA employees during chats and through emails,,
