Ahh, so this is how an urban myth gets started.

The preliminary report from the Canadian medical examiner states that the two Canadian sisters did not ingest DEET in an amount sufficient to cause death.

From a cost benefit perspective, the application of DEET has saved millions of people from death and disease due to malaria, dengue and other diseases transmitted my insects. The issue of DEET consumption is one of proper use, and not one of product safety. Any substance used inappropriately can cause harm. Some people inhale glue and gasoline. Does this mean we should ban the products?
